I have put an inch and a half on my arms in the last year and have done no direct arm work at all. Bi's get plenty of work from chins/rows Tri's plenty from bench/overhead press's And of course they grow from the all over anabolic effect of squats and deads. Others will say different no doubt, but thats my take on it.

![]() Something like, Squats bench rows Deads ohp chins. Just a quick example Edit: When you train with compounds only you dont really train a split as such, you train lifts. Thats how i look at it anyway

Many people will say isolation movements for arms are a waste but I react well to them. Arms are actually trained twice per week for me after my big lifts. I think it makes sense to train the smaller assisting muscles if you aim to increase your heavy compounds. My arms react best to heavy curls and close grip BP, size and strength wise.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Arms? i like to do at least two isolation exercises,...(two bi's and two for tri's) even if its just to feel a pump,.... i agree the main compound exercises are providing gains,.... but if timed properly during your "week" an isolation is an advantage too.....

Genetics, lifestyle and age will play a huge part in this. Par example I have a friend who used to be an amateur boxer - he's basically arms and lats. No chest to speak of and I bet he would struggle squatting 150lbs. He trains arms thrice weekly in addition to his sparring, and he's had good growth arm. He also is a student and only works part time close to home. Annoying isn't it? :gun: |
