Re: machines vs free wights

some machines movements wont hit the core muscles as well

but great if prone to injury imo

Re: machines vs free wights

Provided you stimulate the muscle enough and your diet and recovery are good then of course you will grow,be it free weight or machines.

The advantage of free weights,as jimmy has stated,is that you are bringing core and stabiliser muscles in to play so subsequently you are stimulating more overall growth.

Re: machines vs free wights

Training time spent on Machines IMO should be restricted or varied more. Over time they can cause injuries due to pattern overload (using the exact same movement pattern every movement).

Structured correctly into a program they can be great for unloading or as Jimmy said if you're injury prone.

If the movement doesnt feel right for you though....dont do it!!
(That isnt an excuse for if you find it hard LOL)

Needs to lift weight IMO.

He'll naturally have a large amount of muscle tissue, should use it to his advantage. Circuit training

Again just assumptive but he'll probably be Insulin Resistant with that kind of weight. Good Pre and post workout structure, eat regular feedings of good quality food and intense weight sessions, 45 mins max.

It'll drop off him!

Re: machines vs free wights

one thing that ****es me off about free weights is when someone asks you to pass em a big fk off heavy dumbell off the floor to do shoulder press with, then do about 5 wobbly reps before dropping them, i refuse to do it now as if you cant lift em up on your own you shouldnt be attempting the fookers
