| Its a Natural Tan :P | Problem with my abs Hey, Not really sure where to post this, so if its in the wrong place please let me know. Now i dont train my abs directly. i will occasionally say do 100 situps/twists but not often. Anyhow i have a question to which im hoping some one can help answer for me. please see the pic: When i tense my abs, whilst im standing. the red part (upper abs?) stick out more than my lower abs (blue) whilst those both feel hard when tense im not sure why this is. ive tried showing this with a drawing from what it looks liek from the side couldnt get a decent photo. my ideas: just doing situp strengthens the upper abs, i need to do things like leg kicks or what ever there called to do the lower abs. could be complety wrong but id like to help to try and even it out a little

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Problem with my abs Are you saying that your upper abs protrude more than the lower abs? By the sounds of it your talking about the overall profile of you stomach not the fat distributuion! Is this correct? I'd get the red and blue rash looked at asap. |

| Its a Natural Tan :P | Re: Problem with my abs Dru0111 That is correct, the upper abs (not that you can see any abs, im not after a 6pack) do protude more than the lower abs, my lower abs are pretty flat whilst my upper are more 'inflated'. and no its not cos im bloated, its been like it for a while now, just never really thoughtto ask. as for the rash ive got some cream today thanks ;)

| UK-M's Token Aussie | Re: Problem with my abs do you do situps with weight? as you may have "bulked" your upper abs up more so than your lower abs.. hence your upper abs appearing bigger.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Problem with my abs Lol. Ok, does your dad have a similare shape? Genetically people store fat in different ways. you could be storing fat around your intestines and organs and hence the protruding upper abs!!! Or you may need to cut down on food quantity at meal times and increase meal frequency! Do you know what your caliper body fat is? your Bio-electrical impedance Body fat (using a hand held machine) will give a different (inacurate) reading and may give you an insight to whether you have underlying fat. I very much doubt this is a weight training issue. |

| aka Jimmy | Re: Problem with my abs Quote:
Let me tell you mate, how your abs appear are nearly always genetic, I have shallow abs whereas some ppl will be able to get so shredded that they have really deep cuts into their abdomen. If Im honest you look kinda lean but you look like you've not been training all that long, all the abs need are hitting like any other muscle group, why? because they exactley the same, I see no reason why you get ppl doing 500 sit-ups per day etc, what exactley does it achieve? well, it gets you used to doing 500 sit-ups in a nutshell, you can easily achieve the same effect by using some weight, cable crunches and weighted sit-ups for instnace. To see your abs you need to be lean, decide if you want to diet and have abs and definition or grow and sacrifice a little conditioning, doing both at the same time takes some real patience and time, at this time of the year most ppl would rather try and add some size to what they've got, unless you've got a job where you need to stay lean yr round or going on holiday, or like ripping your shirt off when you go on the **** lol then I wouldn't worry too much.If anything they look a little underdeveloped, that being said, its hard to really see 100% from the picture.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Problem with my abs Yea I would agree genetics play a big part but thats not to say you cannot manipulate your appearance. You look to young to have excess fat stores around the intestines bla bla. In your case you will be putting just slightly too much food into your stomach in one sitting, doing this over and over will slightly increase the max volume of your stomach (hence protruding upper abs). You need to keep the calorie intake up by eating half the amount in one sitting and twice as many meals. This way you will not over fill the stomach and it will eventually adapt as it will not need to cope with such high volumes of food! Try it for a month. If it dosn't work blame genetics!!! |

If your serious about reaching that goal of yours and hitting a leanish 12 stone then f*ck ya abs. Stay relatively lean like you are now and just eat like a horse and train like a mofo, in time work your way upto 13 stone. Then do a cut, drop a stone or so and your there!! You cant be a tart with ya abs if your serious about bulking mate. Dont get so fat that your gut hangs right over your trousers, but dont worry about a bit of fat as you bulk. Try and stay lean and bulk/ build muscle at the same time is gonna be a long painful process. In other words, man up and have a beer belly like me ![]()
