Red face New Guy Just Starting Out!

Hi Guys im lovin the site. basically im just startin out on my quest and im after a few tips. i am currently on a diet regime which is doing ok been on it for about 4 weeks and have had noticable results:

breakfast - 2 chicken breast and 2 wholemeal pitta breads
lunch - Promax diet shake with milk
dinner - 2 chicken breast and 2 wholemeal pitta breads

im also currently taking thermobol 3 times daily

i have also just invested in a small multigym which uses free weights which i hope will be sufficient to save goin to the gym. it has bench press with incline, flyes with incline, leg attatchment, and a lat pull down bar. plus i also have dumbells.

i am currently 6' tall and 230lbs so im looking to lose some weight as well as put on muscle. basically im after a routine to start with and any help or tips with the diet would be great!

Re: New Guy Just Starting Out!

welcome to the site dude i aint been here long either. Its packed full of usefull advice so take full advantage.

In my opinion you need to figure out which you want to focus on either gaining muscle or loosing fat because you wont get any considerable muscle gains while your dieting down.
im guessing by your meal regime that your on a diet, and in order to gain muscle you need a calorie surplus and a considerably higher daily intake of protein at least 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight.

perhaps others will advise you differently and feel free to correctme if im wrong, but if i were you i would firstly concerntrate on burning fat, then once i was happy with my weight loss i would start a new and clean bulking regime.

also its not essential but if you want to maximise your training intensity get a training buddy and hit the gym because theres nothing like healthy competition to get you motivated !!!!

Promax by maximuscle is a good supp but an expensive one, there is cheaper good quality whey out there. Try looking at some of the board sponsors

agree with deejpj, a good supp but a little too pricey. try looking at myprotein.co.uk or bulkpowders.co.uk, both advertise on this site, good amino count and pretty darn cheap! let us know how you got on with the thermobol, i tried it once before, and it made me feel like crap, not to mention that burning feeling from the hot pepper! but best of luck.

Not true you can lose weight and gain muscle, I'd advise doing some cardio in the mornig pre breakfast and 3-4 Weight training sessions a week.

im guessing by your meal regime that your on a diet, and in order to gain muscle you need a calorie surplus and a considerably higher daily intake of protein at least 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight.

Yes if your trying to lose weight and gain muscle then a split of 50/30/20 P/C/F would be my guide.

perhaps others will advise you differently and feel free to correctme if im wrong, but if i were you i would firstly concerntrate on burning fat, then once i was happy with my weight loss i would start a new and clean bulking regime. If you did this then you'll have no muscle under the flab and once its gone you'll just be skinny

also its not essential but if you want to maximise your training intensity get a training buddy and hit the gym because theres nothing like healthy competition to get you motivated !!!!
Agreed motivation is a lot better in a gym, but then there are a lot of big dudes who train at home - look at Robdog one of the Mods, he used to carry a bit of excess, now he has slimmed down and put on a great amount of muscle from training at home. But you need self motivation.
