Advice needed for beginner please.

Hi guys, I posted up on this section a couple of months ago, but I have been out of the country and havnt had proper access to the internet untill now.

I have been doing some research and written up a diet on what I believe will help me lose fat, while build muscle at the same time. I havnt started it yet, as I want some pointers/critasism on what is good, and what I can improve on, and what exercise I should be doing.

I currently weight 11 and 1/2 stone. Im 5' 11" With an average build. I have quite broad shoulders/chest. Im by no means fat, but not in any way tonned either.

I feel I work most effectivly when I set my self short to medium length goals, rather than goals that are going to be a long way off. So where I would like to see myself in the near future is well tonned, I guess the best body to describe it as is like Daniel Craig as he comes out the water in the new James Bond film. Then once I am at that stage, I can look at really building up my muscles. But I need advice if this diet is the right sort of diet to reach my short term goal?

Breakfast - 50g oats
25g branflakes or all bran
30g protein shake

Use water rather than milk with shake.

Mid morning - Green apple or pear

Lunch - 1x cup of brown rice or whole wheat pasta.
(cooked)
120g chicken strips or 1 can of tuna (in water) add peppers in.

Mid afternoon - 1x cup of brown rice or whole wheat pasta.
120g chicken strips or 1x can of tuna. Add peppers.

Dinner - 1 to 2 chicken breasts or turkey or skinless fish pieces. Have with mixed salad, use balsamic for dressing.

(Can swap lunch for a whole wheat sandwich. Use smoked turkey slices (low fat), cottage cheese. Add egg whites if choose.

Drink atleast 2-3 litres of water per day. Sip throughout the day.

As I said earlier, I am totally new to this, so I dont expect it to be perfect. Also, I have no idea at all on what exercise I should be doing, as every website I read on exercise is giving different advice to the last.
(I dont have a membership to a gym, or any weights, so I realise I may need to buy some, if so, recommendations on which set of weights are good will be appreciated.)

Thank you all in advance guys :-)

I knew someone was gonna say add protein.

Your diet is fine mate, very healthy and that is the basis if any routine. You need to supplement well with vitamins etc also, search around the site and you will find loads of info.

For formulating your diet read this as it has been covered many times.
