![]() ![]() ![]() | When I used to do my cardio after my last lay off last year... mostly on a stationary bike I would get my heart rate up around 150 max and keep it around there and sweat my ass off and just train for Britain and after 45mins would burn around 6 -700 calories (iirc). But now I have checked this year what heart rate zone I need to be in... its only 126-132 and I hardly break a sweat! :( I am constantly trying to slow down or having to stop every few minutes as my heart monitor starts beeping like crazy every time I go over that! Even if I try and go slow and not go over it! After 45mins tonight I felt like I've achieved sod all... a very slight sweat and I didnt even bother looking how many cals I burnt off! I think its going to take a lifetime to get the fat burnt off at that rate... I think I'm just going back to going faster as a higher heart rate again around 150. I might even do this for the next few weeks every day before I really get back into my weights again to get the worst of the fat off my belly and then get back into a properly laid out training routine with correct cardio just twice per week on my off days. Sorry to rant on folks... I just feel I wasted my time and wanted to sweat like a pig but was being held back by the heart rate zone monitor. I ready to go for it...and dont want to go slow! I know last year I lost my fat I had gained in just 3 - 4 weeks by doing cardio faster and my T-shirt was ringing wet after each session. Please can u advise me here..thanks. |

| Sexy Moderator | Re: Bit frustraited with the Cardio heart rate thing! I just do 40 minutes or so in the morning before eating anything. My heart rate according to the readers on the machines ranges from 120 - 140. I just stay there for 30 minutes, then move to another machine and do another 10 minutes at around 110 - 120 to cool down.

The fat burning zone is estimated using a mathmatic calculation, as is your calorie usage (which is way over-estimated btw). trust your body and listen to it not maths, up the cardio and use a scale such as the Rating of Perceived Exertion Scale. You should train in zone 3. SD
