Hit them HARD and CONSISTENTLY

Thanks to UK Muscle (shorty in particular!) I have actually got myself stuck into routine which I am sticking to consistently. I cannot describe how much I am benefiting from this, it's weird, I can just FEEL it. I am now doing things properly, I am hitting the muscles harder than ever and as a result I need rest days. Workouts leave me out of breath, I am pushing myself further and further each time, and the most noticeable difference is that I am now aching like f*ck the next day. I have never experienced this before..

...but I wouldn't change a thing

Originally I fell into the trap of doing hundreds and hundreds of dumbbell curls in an attempt to make my arms bigger. It is now that I have realized that this was a complete waste of my time. For anyone who wants muscle, I cannot stress how important it is to establish a routine of consistently hitting your muscles hard.

At first your rest days will seem unusual. You want gains fast, so you think you must be training each and everyday. You grab the weights whenever you can. However just stick with your routine and this urge will go away, I can assure you.

Thank you UK Muscle. I am hooked!!

Re: Hit them HARD and CONSISTENTLY

I am not preaching a specific routine here, I am talking about a particular mindset. Get yourself into a routine and consistently hit your muscles hard. Allow time to rest for your muscles to grow.

It's as simple as that.

Re: Hit them HARD and CONSISTENTLY

I notice I get better results when I hit it hard then have a rest day.

This is exactly what I mean. For people who haven't taken the time to read up on the fundamentals, this is a big problem! I know, I've been there. If it wasn't for these forums I'd still probably be doing the same.

That is the point of my post

Re: Hit them HARD and CONSISTENTLY

To be honest it takes my muscles like 2 days to recover, even if I wanted to train it would hurt too much.

But something is a little off, I am getting stronger but not much bigger:confused::confused:

Re: Hit them HARD and CONSISTENTLY

Your muscles take a lot longer than 2 days to recover. The swelling hasnt even gone down fully after 2 days. It takes around a week to 10 days to recover. You shouldn't train the same muscle group after 2 days no matter how much you are eating!!!

The growth factor will be 50% diet 50% training. You wont grow without both being in tune. Gaining size takes TIME. If you are getting a little bigger then this is good. It probably means you aren't putting fat on. How much do you consider "not much" and over what time frame?
