| Newbie Trainer | Confusion over shakes! Hi again, As I was reading through the posts on nutrition and training and I keep seeing these PWO shakes (whey) and then protein shakes. As my main aim is weight loss/body fat loss and muscle definition (as a woman), through weight training (and some cardio, as opposed to the full-on cardio i'm used to), but should I be drinking these shakes as well? I saw this one for a PWO shake Elite Dymatize Butter Cream Toffee whey, but is this right for me? Or where should I start? I know worrying about bulking for women is a myth, but will the shakes help my weight/fat loss? Thanks guys!! Miss Tx |

| UK-M Swimsuit model | Re: Confusion over shakes! Hi, you prob have not had many replies as this should really be in the supplement section but.... If your main aim is fat loss, then you wont really need a Whey protein shake, but a PWO shake is different. This is for replacing nutriants lost during training and to aid recovery. These are high in carbs and amino acids. I use a product called CNP Pro-Recover which is great for this. Weight loss is down to diet and cardio (as i'm sure you know), and protein shakes are more for adding extra cals while bulking. What is your diet like? J

My girlfriend uses 1 scoop of Pro Recover after her weight sessions because if you are training hard you need to have some isolate and simple sugars PWO in order to replenish your reserves. This will not make you gain weight but it will stop you burning up muscle tissue after training and therefore increase your overall toned look. BTW my girlfirend is a fitness model type not a bber ![]()

So I would say Yes you should use protien when dieting as this will help retain muscle (Thereby helping you to burn more cals). My opinion |
