Decide what you want to do! I'd say judge it by body fat. Personally I've got upto 19% body fat on a bulk and its time for a diet!

But its up to you! If you dont feel too fat carry on, if you feel too heavy then I'd say diet then start on a lean bulk.

Could start by setting yourself short time goals, every time you reach one that will keep you motivated.

Re: grateful for some advice

I used to hate training on my own so to motivate myself i filled my i-pod with a shed load of 'feel good' songs, songs that reminded me of the good times and that seemed to get me through it.

good luck with it pal.

Re: grateful for some advice

Get some dvd's of Dorian, Ronnie, Marcus Ruhl & the like, watch them before you go to the gym. It's such a simple thing, but it really does help you focus on the task at hand. The music suggestion is a good one too. I have some really cheesy stuff on my MP3 but I don't care, it makes me train like a man possessed (plus you don't get people wanting to chat to you whilst training).

Re: grateful for some advice

As Kyrocera said, Goal setting is vital in motivating yourself, this is well publicised in modern Sport Science literature. Set short and long term goals, keep good diaries, use a programme like Fitday to record your progress and take pride when you meet those goals.

Good Luck mate

You expressed and challenged yourself, startled the dozing muscles and welcomed the sweet pain of gain. Boredom begets mediocrity. Enemies both, they deserve swift eradication. Let's hit the weights and build some muscle. Race ya to the bench press. Dave Draper
