Timmo is on a distinguished road
Starting up.......again!

Having a few problems at the moment, I had been training for about 3 years but I have just had 6 months off for one reason or another. I have been trying to ease myself back in over the last month by pretty much halving all the weight I was using and just building back up. Problem is pretty much everything I do is hurting my shoulders and taking all the effect away from the desired area. Has anyone had similar problems after a lay off? Should I reduce weight further? I don’t think my form is to far off.

Any advice much appreciated

Hi Timmo

If the pain is muscular:

It's most likely that you are just overdoing things. Overtraining is a cumulative thing. I mean; you may have two workouts absolutely fine... Then on the 3rd find that a certian bodypart (in your case shoulders) is giving you pain. Just ease off - perhaps you were training with the same intensity/volume that you were previously? given that your body is no longer expecting such exertion it's probably not ready to get into "muslce repair mode" so easily as before. Just take a few days off and go again, if it persists then drop volume down.

If however the pain is more tendon/bone then i would advise you to go and see a physiotherapist.
