Wanting to lose fat in certain areas..gain muscle in others

First off, my main goal is to become cut throught my entire body. I'm 5'8, 160lbs..I want to lose the excess fat on my stomach, and legs. So what would be the best way to lose the fat off my legs and stomach, while at the same time training my arms, chest and back to bulk up.

What im basically looking for is a workout plan..run on one day and work out another etc. etc.

thanks, nick

Hey Nick,

Welcome.

I think we will kill one myth off here: It is impossible to isolate areas to remove fat unless you have liposuction.

If you are one of those lucky fat type of peeps, you put in on all over at the same rate and take it off all over at the same rate, however, the abs and chest in men, and the butt and upper thighs in women are often the 'fat storage' area and last to shift.

If you are new to training, doing an all over body workout every other day would be a good idea.

I would also advice you look at a few of the starter stickies and come up with a plan of action yourself, post it if you have concerns, and then it can altered.

The only way to lose fat from certain areas is to drop your entire body fat level. As Tatyana said, you can't lose from selected areas. You may have a different storage pattern to other people and lose from areas quicker than others, but the only way to drop it is to lose overall BF.

Stomach and chest are usually the last to go.

A good diet is the key. Cardio will also help. There are plenty of stickies and other posts that will help you out.

Have you trained before or are you completely new to this?

Again, as Tatyana said, get a plan together and come back with it for fine tunning.
