Help with building and toning my legs

Hi,

I'm new round here, this is my first post, so go easy please.

OK so here goes...

I'm male, 17, 6,2, 97kg. I've been training hard for about 8 weeks, 4-5 times a week, however I've always kept fit in the past.

I've managed to pack a lot of muscle on my abs and arms, however, naturally I am a big build.

In the gym, I've neglected my legs recently, becaesu they are naturally very muscley. I want to be able to tone any excess fat and make it so the muscles in my gluts and calves are very prominent. I also want to lose some fat round my bum and tone it more.

When I have worked on my legs in the gym, I've been using the leg press, adductor, abductor, rotary calf, leg curl and extension. However, I'm not seeing a great deal of results as I did with my upper body. My diet is good, high carbs, high protein and is well balanced. I also do running and use the cross trainer in the gym every visit, 30mins on each.

What can I do to burn any excess fat and tone muscle, shall I just push myself harder, or is there any other exercises I can do?

Thanks for any input.

Try just...

1 - Squats
2 - A hamstring exercise
3 - A calf exercise

concentrate on adding a little bit of weight on to each exercise every week (however small)... concentrate more on the squats more than anything else... also make sure they aren't half hearted squats... hams to calves!

there is no such thing as toning a muscle - it can only get bigger, stay the same size or get smaller... to get leaner you have to lose some body fat, but remember that more muscle on a frame burns more calories ;) aim to gain strength and lose some body fat at the same time... it can be done

BUMP. Please don't use the word TONE! With relationship to BBing, that word has done more damage to people training properly than those bloody ab machines!
