![]() | confused about bodyfat % Hiya, Well I went to the gym today and got the dude there to sort me out with my bf%. Well he told me there were two kinds! He goes one is for normal fellas and the other is for atheletic dudes. He was saying the atheletic one is if you have a resting heart rate of 60 or below, or if you do over 10hrs of exercise a week. Well my resting heart rate was 61 but I don't do that much exercise, so I got both types of bodyfat %ages. The atheletic one was 7.6, and the normal one was 13.2. So can anyone tell me what the difference is between these 2 kinds of values. Now I need to check that body fat thread so I can see what the top dogs bodyfat is compare myself and cry! Gotta say thanks to everyone here that helps with queries and stuff cos none of you seem to have attitude problems and are always sharing information. Nice1

You sure shouldn't need to adjust the bodyfat measurement based on how much exercise you do! Did he use calipers on you?

![]() | Hey, Nah, it was an electric thing I had step on, I had to take my socks off. He said it sends electricity through and that's how it works. Beforehand he measured my resting heart rate and blood pressure.

Assuming the person using them is competent, they will be about as accurate as you can get without going underwater.
