Skinny wrists

Hi, finally I found a decent body building forum. Been looking for one for ages.

Basically, I am 17 years old and about 159cm in height.

I have very thin wrists and I was wondering if there was any way of making them thicker.

I would required some urgent advise on this!!

Scroll down the list on the right hand side in the exercises column and click on Wrist>extensors/flexors, this will show you a list of exercises you can use for your wrists.

My own favourite is the dumbell wrist curl, you can also do this exercise with your hands palm down to work the other side of your wrists. Hope this helps.

dude - not quite sure what you mean here. There are routines for forearms but these will do just as they say - build up your forearms.

However, the size of your wrists are predetermined and all the weights and routines in the world will not shange their size (maybe just the strength) of the joint itself.

Perhaps you can't make your wrists bigger but these are very important exerises because as you gradually lift heavier weights you will suffer injury if your wrists aren't strong enough. I also have fiarly thin wrists but I do the dumbell wrists curls to prevent injury further down the road.
A few years ago I got into weight training but I was often unable to workout for weeks at a time becaise my wrists kept getting injured and I was unable to hold the weights and do bicep curls and bench presses, and I lost interest after a while. Now I know better.

You're right of course. I'm just bloody glad the same isn't true of ankles. My ankles are pathetic, but using seated calf raises will do the trick over time.

Well, skinny wrists look good if you pack on muscle on the arms and forearms. It is an illusion of more muscle if you can do this.

The wrist does not have a large amount of muscle there so you are kind of stuck with that.
But again, the more muscle you have the bigger the arm looks with small bones.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments.

I was also wondering, if I use protein supplements and other stuff to build my body to a good shape e.g. toned lean muscles (i dont want to be too tonk!!), will my muscles depend on these supplements for the rest of my life?
What will happen if I decide to stop using the supplements?

Supplements are just that, they supplement what you are not getting in a regular diet.
With a good diet and using whole foods you dont even need supplements.
A lot of people think drinking protein shakes pack on muscle, I dont think this is so.

Dude - dont worry about needing to take supplements to maintain your muscle, It is not needed if your diet is super super!!, However you may find that as you get bigger you will need more and more protein (as your body weight will/should increase). On this basis you will find that you will you will want to keep taking the supllements!

However, it is a cliche but supplements are as they are called............ 'supplements'. they just supplement your real diet. Dont make the mistake I did by relying on supplements. Try to get as much of your protein/carbs from natural surces first. Protein shakes are only an insurance policy.

I just have two protein shakes per day, one in the morn with my porridge and one at night immediately before bed (oh and definately one straight after training), that is all. The rest of my day is spent eating chicken, tuna, turkey or egg whites (natural sources).

Ive got small wrists too mate, about 7 inches but it just means that my arms look bigger than they are, so its not such a bad thing.
