Quads and hams on same day, bad idea?

My new routine says I should work my legs on the same day, but I have heard some say this isn't a good idea, while other say its just personal preference. Is there any physiological reason why i should seperate quad and hamstring workouts?
Thanks.

It all depends on how you want to play it. Are your hamstrings lagging behind your quads? Although my overall leg size (quads, hamstrings and calves) are probably my better bodyparts, however I train hamstrings seperately because they are not quite on part with my quads.

I find this works, but again, it's down to the individual

Not sure at what stage you are with your training mate.

Personally I would always train legs (complete) on the same day if I was bulking up. This way I can get it over and done with and it saves over excertion on the legs.

Train them together IMO.

If you're squatting properly, you'll be hitting quads AND hams hard, so it's difficult to split them.

Squat or squat variation
SLDL, GMs or GHRs
Lunges
Abs/Core
Calves

Unless you've got a specific weakness, that's about what should be in a typical lower body routine IMO.

I do complete legs on one day.

Usually:
Leg Extensions
Squats
Stiff Legged Deadlifts
Legs Curls
Then finish off with Calf Raises.

At the moment I'm doing a lot of cardio so my legs usually get trained there too. Saying this I only do a quick bike warm up on leg day and the same if i train the day after to let them recover.

Thanks for the great advice, as a beginner my quads and hams are both at the same stage (10 stone weakling with chicken legs) so I will do them together.

I did quads and hams yesterday.

Legs are killing today, thought I tore a muscle on the leg press as I like to go super deep on the 70 degree press in my gym. Did 12 reps with 968lbs, not my strongest but the ROM was knees to my chest so it killed afterwards.

Doing calfs in a few days when I've recovered lol.

I like to flex my legs at the top of the squat, kind of keep them tight before I exicute the next rep.
This gives me a better pump.

unc, keep the tension, for a proper blow out try not locking out on them!

keep to your allocated reps, but instead of locking out just keep the tension on the quads and rep again. if that doesnt get you going then theres summat wrong with you!! lol
