![]() ![]() | Pushups. Do they build muscle? Hey everyone, This may start a debate or maybe not. The question is do you think doing pushups builds muscle or just maintain muscle. I know you can make pushups more intense and difficult by the position of your hands and how fast or slow you do them or how many reps but what is everybody's thoughts on pushups. You know if you aren't able to go to a gym do they help. I am an expeirenced lifter and tend to think sure you could build some muscle but not a lot but i am asking everyone because I have never been that route where I relied on pushups for muscle growth. |

Most genetically normal people cannot build muscle any other way. So if you're doing 10 pressups today and 20 pressups in a month's time after increasing by 2 reps each week, you'll have built muscle. If you keep doing 10 pressups each week however, you'll most likely not gain any muscle.
