the abs is all one muscle, it contracts as a whole so you cant really target specific parts. The reason the tops of the abs are more visible than the bottom ones is due to the distribution of bodyfat.

I have the same problem! Just working hard to get the fat off is the best way I would think (hope!)...

This is not entirely true imo - your abs do contract as a whole but you can put more emphisis on upper or lower.
You can target the lower abs by doing exersices such as leg raises, hanging leg raises etc. My lower abs kill when I do these.
You can even target the left or the right side of your abs if you wanted.

Yeah leg raises with a light dumbell between them I use the dip bars. Or sat on the edge of a bench with legs hanging over freely, put a light DB in between and lie back, then crunch your knees to your belly while lifting your upperbody like a sit up. This does my abs well and also helps my lower abs in the process. Get them showin for the summer mate!

Agreed with Stu, the 6 pack you see is one muscle, all joined in the middle. You switch one on and they all switch on. Although your abs are made up of 2 muscles - the transverse abs and the rectus abs.

Reverse crunches with a medecine ball between the legs are good for hitting the lower portion of your abdominal wall as are, hanging leg raises with a medecine ball between the knees or legs and leg raises again with a medecine ball belween them.

Main thing is finding what works best for you though as whats good for me might be no good for you. All down to the individual remember that ok. no such thing as a one size fits all in bodybuilding.
Happy Training mate
