![]() | My Story (and some questions) Hey guys, First off, great forum. Look forward to spending more time here. Thought it'd be good to start off my journey by explaining myself a bit ... as i've got some questions as well. Basically, I developed a bacterial issue in my stomach and intestinal tracks when I was a preteen, which caused me to lose a lot of weight and be unable to gain it back (it's sort of like celiacs disease, but able to be cured). I'm 17 now and the disease is gone, but it's left my body in ruins. About 5'11 and 123lbs...but my bones are extremely broad which makes me look even lankier than youd expect. Ideally, i'd like to put on 40lbs of muscle. All constant comments about my weight have made me extremely insecure and ruined my self-esteem. And since i've never really been at a healthy weight I don't even know what it's like....so i have a few questions that are going to be extremely stupid to you, but I'm just really curious/oblivious: 1) Gaining weight affects all parts of your body besides areas of catiledge, correct? I'm a musician, so there's always a lot of focus on my hands and a lot of people seem to be grossed out by them; my fingers are extremely long and boney...they look napkins with straws coming out of them. will areas like my hands gain thickness? 2) Is it natural for legs to seem concave when extremely deprived of muscle? You can tell the bones are aligned but my kneecaps are huge while my calves are nonexsistant...so i think that could possibly be part of it. 3) How does gaining weight affect your face? Is it possible to achieve that "pitbull" look, or does it boil down to genetics? I've seen cases of anorexia where the victims face looks drained and flappy, but those are all much more extreme cases than mine. Front ![]() Side ![]() These pictures dont show how narrow i really am, but theyre all ive got. it just seems like i should be thicker and fuller...but another part of me says your face is all genetics and weight really isnt going to change a thing. I'd just like to have some cheeks and jaws...is that so much to ask? Anyway, thanks for your time and look forward to posting more. Hopefully being around you guys will keep me inspired / motivated. appreciate it, Sam edit: broken link. Last edited by Fodera; 21-12-2005 at 08:46 AM. |
