Newbie needs help from the start.

Im 19 5ft 8" and i weight 9 stone. Im joining my local gym next week. At the moment im eating 3 meals a day, but sometimes i skip breakfast because i'm still in bed intill 11. I have dumbells at home which i do about 50 reps each day on each arm. The dumbells weight 11kg. So what should i be eating and how should i be exercising. I'm willing to change what i eat in a big way because i hate being the skinny guy.

Breakfast: 2 slices of toast 1/2 pint oj
Lunch: Chips fish 1/2 pint oj
Tea:chicken pie chips 1/2 pint water
I also snack in between meals. crisps,
That's about what i eat for the whole week. I have roast beef on sun. But my diet consist of chips and fried chicken mainly.

My training routine is very basic every day im doing about 40 min of free weights. Doing about 50 reps per arm with a 11kg weight. Im also running for 12 min three times a week. So my routine is mainly working the arms and legs.

Well this is good because being honest your diet ain't great. If you want to put on quality muscle then you need to get your nutrients from quality sources. Chips and fried chicken isn't going to cut it, they are both full of saturated fat and empty carbs. Get your protein from lean sources such as chicken (grilled, skinless), turkey, tuna, fish etc. Get your carbs from stable sources instead of sugary ones.

Read the link above its an excellent guide.

Best of luck, Jock
