Will bodybuilding websites influence physiques at the top level in the future?

And also the number of competitors at the top level?

Ive read so many posts over the years on various BB forums over the years which have people saying "I've gained so much knowledge from this site, my physique would never have got where it is now without the site"

Which got me thinking. I would imagine 15 years ago when the internet didn't really exist people would have gained most of their knowledge from someone in the know. Maybe a friend, father etc, personal trainer. I can imagine a lot of newbie who wanted to start bodybuilding would become very disconcerted with lack of progress and simply not be able to access good information. Good Steroid information would be as rare as rocking horse dung

However now with there being lots of BB sites around a lot of people might get into BB inadvertently whilst looking for information about diets and routines. So my first theory is that more and more people will have access to good information and whilst there will still be a lot more people trying bodybuilding and so in theory there should be a bigger drive and better physiques at the top level.

My other theory is that the information on sites, whilst extremely valid is not true enough to help someone make it to the top level. By true I am of course referring to AAS use. While its sensible advice I sometimes think its 'nice advice' also in that its safe and effective but possibly not realistic of whats actually required to compete at the top. On the other hand though a kid who grows up in a bodybuilding environment or perhaps is the son of an ex pro would have access to 'the good stuff' in terms of steroid use and perhaps be more likely to succeed than someone following regimes from a BB site.

I wonder if someone has made it to a decent level based primarily on what they have read on internet forums? I know personally about 90% of my AAS knowledge was learnt from here but I already knew about training routines.

Hope this makes sense what Im trying to ask!

I think the information found online is already helping people beginners advance in bodybuilding, by saving them time and giving them a better understanding about diet and training. However most of the top guys are at the top not because of some voodoo AAS cycle or access to drugs others dont have, they're at the top because of genetics and hard work, i think the drugs is the easiest part of the equation. You could put these guys in any gym equipped with the basics and they would grow, trial and error in the gym is still the necessary learning curve.

Also, a lot of the top guys use the most simple principles when it comes to training, heavy basic movements, nothing which has changed with the age of the internet, cant comment on drug use as everyone uses different amounts, but test is still king and has been for years so in my opinion the information found online will help the beginning bodybuilder but the elite will still rise to the top no matter what.

I got some of my knowledge from an old Pro, he's passed away now god rest his soul, some of his workouts were out of this world. At 77 he was still training 5 days a week.
