portsmouth show
hi everyone, been a member 4 quite a while now just never posted a thread, neways did anyone go to the portsmouth show. it was the first show ive been to and i found it really good, the guest poser was huge!! i cant believe people can actually get that big! anyways if anyone did go i would like to know what they thought about it.

Hey mate,

Went with some friends from my Gym, in fact the winner of the 'First Timers' section was a member of my gym! So a big congratulations to Roy! you da man buddy!

A lot of what was there was relevant but some things weren't, lookalikes walking around?!?!? not even good ones either, and what was that gangster all about? he had nothing to do with bodybuilding? Why not get nutritionists or trainers up there doing seminars? not freaks and has been gangsters. (lol must be some represses roid rage there).

Was my first show so not much to compare with, but I didn't think the standard was that high in some sections (the Russian guy?!?!?), despite the contestants working really hard (which they all had done). The Judges made good calls on the handing out invites to the British though.

Was nicely surprised to see the Fitness models, apart from being gorgeous both were very talented. Really inspired Dirty Nurse.

As for the finale, Art Atkinson made my jaw drop, I have never seen such a freak of nature!!!!! lol. I have never seen a man that big in the flesh....period! you really can't imagine it from a photo you haver to see it for real to truly understand how massive these guys are.

All in all really enteraining, although a little poorly organised in places (music!?!) and low competition entry in some categories.

Agreed standards were not as high as previous years,i went along with 4 previous class winners.
Must admit it was slightly amusing listening to them critique the show, along the lines of "When i were a lad etc"

Paul....Good to meet ya ...if a lil brief....You going to the finals???

One of the u80kg's told me of random blokes backstage(not bb's) taking pics of all the guys on mobile phones

the show was ok

i was impressed with the over all winner....Tom

as soon as i saw him in the pre judging, i knew it would be his show

i have been to a lot of shows over the years and paul smith put on a good one as always...it was this show 2 yrs ago that i entered

sad to see a bad turn out with only 28 competitors :(

hey sportdr, one of the guys in my gym competed in the first timers he was the indian one, i was dissapointed also with how many people competed, overall there werent that many people, and i got a bit bored with that frankie frazier dude, i dont know why he was at a bodybuilding show, did you notice that their were lots of children round and he just kept swearin! neways it all got much better when that pro started poseing! i have never actually seen someonethat f***ing big in my life

Was a shame there wernt as many competitors, but 90% of the competitors were in excellent shape.

The new womens catogory was good too, With the black girl and the girl with long blone hair.

i was on my hols for this show which i was dissapointd missing it i was hoping to go and support my good friend Tom Blackman who won the overall....plus it would of been a good chance for me to meet all you ugly gits...
