![]() | Re: AMUSING PHOBIAS
Lots of 'phobias' are actually a heightened state of fear/trepedation of a certain action or event. If you were actually phobic of looking up then you'd have serious problems in life. Most 'phobias' are usually sourced from a childhood/late teen trauma or event. Some get rooted in adulthood i.e. if you have been mugged in a subway you may develop a fear of subways. However you will most likely not develop a phobia because the perception is not enhanced like it is in childhood. For example as a child a spider would seem massive and as you grow and develop as an adult any fear you have of spiders would grow with your growth i.e. as you get bigger the perception of the size of the spider gets bigger. Thats why most arachnophobics (myself included) have links to an encounter with a large spider (perception as a child) Now as an adult the spider is actually a loit smaller and so not as threatening. Therefore most phobias can be cured by pursuing this route of thought and programming. Sorry to lower the tone
