![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To all skeptics! Hi all, Recently my posts have come under some skepticism as to there origin, the belief being that I was plagurising articles I had 'cut & pasted'. Also it was noted that I have not provided evidence of my qualifications to impart such knowledge as I am not a Dr par se, this I have rectified. That being said, I have never claimed to be a Dr either, my posts come from my years of experience outlined below in the reply I sent, which I have added here to provide assurance to anyone that I have given medical advise to, that I DO know what I am talking about, in some areas more so than most Dr's, most people who have been to a GP with a sports injury will know what I mean. As with any forum, the advise given is for information only, what you do with that information is up to you, but I am sad that when I have taken time to reply to medical queries in a helpful way that I have fallen under such skepticism. Here was my reply: I know it may be difficult to believe that I used my intelligence but I assure you, I have never copied anything without giving credit. Correct I am not a Dr, if I am required to justify my knowledge with a CV then that is fair enough, here it is. Royal Navy Medic 10 years Responsibilities: Pharmacy, prescribing and dispensing Primary care, diagnosis and prescription. Medical Storekeeping Emergency Care, defib and CPR. Orthopaedic Technician 5 years Responsibilities: Application of any of 32 plaster casts in either pop or synthetic materials. Manipulation od broken bones under local anasthesia. Diagnosis of fractures from x ray. Personal Trainer 3 years Training experience 10 years+ Currently taking a degree in Exercise science of which I am in my 3rd and final year. I have worked at sea and land caring for up to 250 souls without assistance, I have worked in most of the hospitals in the Kent, Sussex and Hampshire area. I am also a qualified EMT (emergency med tech). I have provided medical cover to numerous inter forces rugby matches, boxing tournaments and feild gun trials. As an Orthopaedic technician I regularly work within a&e and theatre with both elective surgery and emergencies and over rule doctors on a daily basis. I am sorry that you are so skeptical as to my source of knowledge but as for putting on my posts that I am not a Dr I don't see anyone else having to justify themselves in this way you included, so forgive me if I don't, I will however alter my profile so fellow skeptics can be reassured ok? I will continue to take the time to post and impart the medical/sporting knowledge I have gained through many years of experience where I consider it useful, which if it comes under skepticism again I am prepared to justify if needed but thanks for your enquiry, if not your confidence. |

| UK-Muscle Moderator | I dont think it was case of people questioning your knowledge mate. Perhaps it was handled wrongly but nothing personal was meant we just have to cover our backs when handing out medical knowledge etc. Hope the matter is now resolved and i am glad you are continuing to post on the board as you are a valuable member.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks everyone for your support! I do not blame the person for questioning me and hold no grudge against them, I realise of course they were acting in the best interest of the forum so their intentions if not the manner which they approached me were very good. No accusations were made but it was clear from the PM that the person had doubts as to my integrity, I think anyone would get annoyed at that as nowhere does it state (to my knowledge) that you have to be qualified in a subject to post on it. After all are these not just opinions? When such opinions are posted it is up to the reader whether to take them as gospel or not. Fortunately for me, I do have the knwoledge and experience to back up what I post and I only post when I am sure I can give an accurate answer, which is why I don't post on all subjcts as I believe there are people here whos knowledge and experience outstrips mine by far in those areas. Perhaps if I had introduced myself when I joined the forum or made a more complete profile I could have avoided this, so lesson learnt : ) So the matter is resolved as I was happy to share my CV with you guys for scrutiny and let you decide if I am qualified to continue to post here, if indeed you need to be? and if I give any advise it is just that, everyone is entitled to a second opinion and freedom of choice! Thanks again guys SD |

" Excellent point, it formed part of my rant in the starstuff thread -- This is the way a forum works! no-one knows all the answers - christ even the best scientists in the world can't decide if Atkins is bad for you or not. But if everyone adds their own knowlege and beliefs to a thread a bigger picture emerges, I don't believe all the things I read on this website but the combination of 20 peoples personal knowlege, thoughts and experiences on a subject count, in my opinion, for a lot more than one single source like an encyclopeadia. I highly value the knowlege in you posts |
