![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi everyone! just thought id join the site, since my good buddy and freak of nature Flex told me about it. Just would like to say; Flex is as good a bodybuilder as he is a person. f***ing awesome guy as anybody can tell on meeting him for the first time. The guy was born a genetic freak with intelligence to match, very rare quality indeed. Hi BigJo where you from mate? ask me anything you want buddy!! I try to keep my training as basic as possible with plenty of speed and explosion. I eat clean all year and dont stray much over 90kgs. I keep my protein high(over 300grams a day) when ive got a meet and avoid alcohol!! I like torturing flex for diet questions as he seems to look pretty damn good all the time. I train squats mon, bench on weds and deadlift fridays. On sat mornings i do assistance work, hit weak areas and do some grip training. I like to use 200mgs of caffeine before training followed by a large amount of water. I NEVER EVER wear straps, i train with chalk. My best poundages in the gym for reps are; squat 220kgs 20 reps, 260kgs 10 reps, 300kgs 4 reps and 330kgs for a double. Bench press(raw) 140kgs 8 reps, 170kgs 3reps, with a shirt 160kgs for 6 reps, 190kgs for a double. Deadlift 220kgs 23reps, 260kgs 10reps, 300kgs for 6 reps, 335kgs for a double and 400kgs off racks below my knees. All the poundages above ive done in different workouts and are all true. My best total in competition is 850kgs, im aiming for 900kgs next july in the British, then i hope to qualify for the WPO. My last competition was in Atlanta,Giorgia where i came so close to pulling 352.5kgs at 89kgs(just had to pin my shoulders). Im lifting on december 5th in Tysley gym,Birmingham in the deadlift challenge. My e-mail is chrisjenkins330@hotmail.com |

![]() | Thanks Chris very impressive lifts have you any photos you can post? Firstly is there any reason why you dont where straps??? What such things do you do for grip training as over the years this is somthing that is letting me down, the strength i believe is there but grip fails me first. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I find that using straps lets my grip down, so i never use them. I prefer to use the chalk on my heavy compound movements like squats, bench, deadlift and shoulder presses. Using straps is good for bodybuilding, but not good for powerlifting. You cant use straps in a powerlifting meet!!! For grip training i perform rack lockouts after deadlifts, just pulling the bar from my knees, then locking and holding the weight for a count of 3-10 seconds. Various forearm training like, wrist curls, reverse wrist curls, with a barbell or dumbell for low and high reps. Also i dont know if you have access to one, but at the Fitness studio we have a hammer strength grip machine. I also find using different thickness barbells and dumbells are also good for grip. |
