just been offered a p.c for £250 ono

just going to use it for internet, saving photos, typing etc, not for gaming, was thinkiing could i get a better one if it was built from scratch?

You might save 10-20£, what's the point? Unless you know how to build a PC properly you will get a less eliable machine imo.

Second hand desktop PC's aren't worth much tbh. It's difficult to know how much use its had, whether its been sat next to a radiator overheating etc. It's up to you but if you aren't desperately after a pc then I'd offer them 150 for it and see what they say...?

Consider a laptop too - well cheap these days and it's fantastic to be able to sit on the sofa and use the laptop instead of being sat at a desk...

Yeah the new small netbook craze you can get a 10inch laptop for £299. 1gig of ram, 1.6ghz Atom processor and easy to move around.

Not bad specs. Got my gf a simliar spec recently. An Asus model for £399 except the processor then was 1.6ghz otherwise the same. She just wants to browse gmail and facebook so it's perfect.

no c.d's but things installed such as office 07, adobe photoshop, few other media stuff, has no speakers and the vga graphic card is meant to be rubbish? well will see about the price if they want more than £200 i may just get a brand new one

depending on how much warranty is left on it would be a big factor on price too, and if it doesnt have an XP Product Key sticker on the side leave it. i cant sell second hand stuff in my shop for love or money, but if you could get that with the screen for under 200 you're doing alright, if i was buying i wouldnt have it for more than about 160. theres not a lot of money in selling boxes and second hand theres naff all, the graphics are pretty much office, internet, email, you can look at your pictures and everything but games would be a nono, if it has PCI-Express slot means it would be simple to put a better graphics card in it if you wished
