Best thing to have done is, ask for the branch address and website etc. If the caller can't confirm any of that, you know it's a load of rubbish. Also, with most genuine surveys you are asked to fill your address out. Did the caller already have your address details, or did you have to provide it all? Predator

| Looking Freaky | Thx for the advice guys.... I got mailed this by a friend - looks like you were all correct - Shame, I would have liked to have had a holiday!!!! ----- CLC MARKETING - Express Travel Promotions. How Club la Costa's marketing really works for Mid-West (Telford Sales), London (Watford Sales) and South of London (Maidenhead Sales) areas of the UK by an insider. If you are lucky enough to live with in about a 150 mile radius of one the above sales centres and are listed in the phone book, you will most likely have been or will be contacted by Express Travel Promotions. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - You are told that a promotion is running and have been selected to receive a holiday due to the fact you have completed a consumer survey about 18 month ago.(hard to remember, sometimes true but very, very rarely). You are asked four questions, are you:- 1. Married or living together, 2. Both you and your partner are aged between 28-65 3. You own your own home 4. and you are a family income of £18 000+ per year (you must fit in to these categories to be able to get finance for a £6500 timeshare deal) If you have answered "YES" to all of the above you will be given a reference number (i.e. W1, W2, M2, T24 etc.) which refers to the person you spoke to (so they know who to pay commission to, if you call in) and also a freephone number. You are told that there are only fifty holidays on offer (to make you feel special) and you must call in straight away(so you don't have to much time to think and actually do it) to claim you holiday. The above is done so that the staff answering the freephone number are only speaking to gullible people who are easily bride and that Qualify (can get finance) If you call in to claim your holiday, you are told you will receive four free return flights, Plus luxury accommodation (really 3 star if your lucky) for six people for seven nights and all you are to paid is a processing fee of £39.50 per person plus travel insurance. To receive this wonderful offer, you are told that all you have to do, is collect the holiday vouchers from their offices at a particular time and date(which will be sometime within only two to five days time and mostly likely during working hours), where you are told all about your holiday and this promotion. (Really a sales presentation on the Destination Holiday Club which is one of Club La Costa's current timeshare products.) You will then receive a letter confirming the offer and the time and date of the presentation, usually with a map, directions and qualifying points photocopied on the back.(However, as little as possible is put in writing, so they do not incriminate themselves in anyway. It is also signed from a person who does not actually exist, recently a Mr Matthew Ward) They call you again (the confirmation call), the day before the presentation, to supposedly confirm the appointment, this call is made to talk you around, if there are any doubts in your mind and pursued you into coming the following day.) If you come to collect your holiday you will be attending a normal timeshare presentation, where, if you don't give in to their cajoling and persuasive ways and walk away without buying/joining a timeshare scheme, will receive you holiday. I Guarantee, you will be disappointed with you FREE Holiday Voucher. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WHY PEOPLE FEEL THEY HAVE BEEN CONNED ------------------------------------- The Holiday has a price(To CLC and their Voucher Company(s), it still has to be profitable !), it may only cost £39.50 per person, but there will be catches:- You will have very limited or USALLY NO CHOICE of:- 1. Destination (it's what they can get you is what you get) 2. Departure date (It will be on a Stand-by Basis giving you no choice of dates and only 14-60 days notice of your departure.) 3. UK Gateway (You will be flying on the cheapest flights available no matter what airport they fly from and how close the airport is to your home. Just because you live in London, doesn't mean you won't be flying from Glasgow!) 4. Insurance (You may have to purchase their well over priced holiday insurance.) 5. Booking (Only one holiday offer will be made to you, which may only be at fourteen days notice, if you can not except this for work or any other reasons whatsoever, you will lose your holiday, Any monies paid, and CLC will then be released of any ties to yourselves!) The Accommodation used for these offers is gained free of charge by CLC/The voucher companies as they are timeshare resorts, which in exchange for their room, they get you (Yes, you've guessed it !) at another Timeshare presentation .(As you are abroad on your holiday, this time it is NOT governed by UK Laws and there are NO two week cooling off periods for you to cancel an agreement, if they can get you to sign, that's it, there's no going back ) Within the voucher booklet there will be extra options to allow you to have "Choices". If you take these options up, when you get the bill it will have cost more than if you had just paid for a holiday in the first place. You will either receive no free flights (their only expensive) or you will receive free flights on a "Buy one, Get One Free" Basis. The flights you purchase will be at an extortionate price, so they cover the cost to CLC for your free flights and also make them profit on top! As well as the offer being rubbish, the other problem is the way in which you are informed by telephone. You will usually talk (on all three calls) to staff aged between 16-22 year old, who are put under a lot of pressure, are paid badly, forced to work long hours, by their management's bully boy tactics, in an attempt to get results and achieve unrealistic targets. Although they have carefully crafted scripts (Designed and written to explain the holiday offer being very economical with the truth, designed to mislead you, without actually lying ) They are supposed to read off these scipts and use lists of questions you may ask with their scripted answers, they wander. Although I am sure this is not CLC's policy, there young staff are put under so much pressure that they begin to "Pitch Heat" and lie to you, telling you just about anything, to get you to their presentation and earn another £1.50 commission. They fear the commonest question, "Is it timeshare", and though they won't say no, they won't say yes either. The current scripted answer to this is "The only link that we have to Timeshare is that we are governed by the Timeshare Council, that's because we are a holiday company and not a travel agent, we do not sell static property of any kind." What is that supposed to mean? This has become very common and usual practice, which in my personal experience is the result of most peoples displeasure. Whether or not all this has been going on for sometime, I don't know. However I do know these have always been the policies of newly appointed Director of Marketing for Club la Costa and long term timeshare con man Jason Wynne (£250 000 per annum) and his sidekick goon Matthew Ponting (£35 000 per annum). Who have reached these positions by conning and acquiring millions of pounds, using a string of timeshare companies before ditching them when the heat is on. You may have met them before trading under any of the following company names :- LFB Promotions (which believe it or not stands for "Load of F***ing B*****ks"), Blaze Travel, Travel Marketing Associates, ML Management and Development, Travel Marketing Consultant, Global Marketing Consultants, Vacation 2000, Club Destination International, East Anglian Holiday Villas, Vacation 2000 (Holiday Club Anglia), Havershill Management, Portrait Holidays and there's many, many, more. In the past Club la Costa has been one of the straighter laced timeshare companies, with a good reputation and good products, lets hope that Roy keeps it this way and spins these guys before they spin CLC, like the many companies they have been involved in before. |
