British Army

Currently im pretty much as close to a bum as you can be, i work part time at Morrisons and pretty much wasting my life/intelligence. Ive done my A levels - got 3 C`s. In my GCSE's i got 9 A-C, im really considering going into the British Army, I was wondering if anybody on here has served time in the army,, what it was like? whether or not you would advise other people to join up.
Im not thinking of going into a combat style job, these days there are soooo many different job roles i think it would be a waste to go into the basic infantry. I was thinking more along the lines of aircraft engineering or maybe a military engineer, does anybody know somebody with a similar role?
much appreciated

Re: British Army

Jamie, you sir are no bum, you are in current employ (no matter the level), which in my book makes you immideatly better than half the country.

As Harry wisely says a trade is garunteed work and money for life. All the best with whatever you decide to do.

What I did was do gear for 6 months then said to my mrs I was thinking of trying them. She said well, they'll make you all more aggressive, d1ck small etc etc, the usual and I replied I'd been on them 6 months to which she said, oh well then, no worries...

wtf are you me? got the same education as you and work part-time in morrisons lol. With grades like yours they will probly reccomend intelligence corps. That would probly be the best route for you if you dont want to waste your education anyways!

Re: British Army

I think with your qualifications they'll be trying toi get you to join as a higher rank, an officer, Id ultimatley look for something that you can apply in civvy street once you leave, but there are soem cracking jobs in the forces these days, there is a bloke on here who is a recruiter for the army, he outlined the pension and benefits they get, and tbh, its one of the best going, but only if you serve the full 22 years I think.

Royal Engineers or maybe something in the RAF?

i served 8 years mate if you have a brain then get something back from the army i.e a trade have a look in to the engineers the trades they offer are good and your first role is a combat engineer, i ended up as a plant fitted but never used my trade much as i was sent to a bomb disposal unit

some of the trades they offer are brickie, sparky, plumber, draftsman, chippy, fitter, fabricater, survyer and planty

excuse my spelling
