i was wondering what trade you have and what quals you have also what corp/regt. i served 8 years 4 years in the RA and 4 in the RE so i would say i have views on 2 diff cap badges and certainly was not short of offers when i come to leave. neither were 4 of my friends who got out same times as me all with trades like air con fitter, plumber, plaster and bomb disposal which were all army quals all of which are now on good money

The trades in the Army are above the standard of the civy equivalent. And as for getting courses thats down to the individual to get himself on the courses, nobody else is going to do it for you. Everyone has £140 per year learning credits and if you have been in a few years advanced learning credits £6000 over a 3 year period (which you can still use when you leave the Army). On top of that every station has a learndirect centre with heavily subsidised courses. I am currently looking at an open degree course which wont cost me a penny.

Not true, i was in sp coy and had varied roles involving specialist radio equipment also LURPS (long range recon patrol ) medic, and these are sought after quals my friend. If you show you have something about you then there are good skills to be learned in the paras.

The army life is brilliant, I loved it . traveled everywere. spent time in Bosnia . Iraq and Afghan. You get your crap days and mundane jobs but thats the same with everything in life. i miss the lads the most. You just have a great time. Id go for it ...

If i didnt have my wee nipper just about to pop id be straight back in were i left off
