Re: British Army

The trades and qualifications the army give you are **** poor. They are by no means a good stand in civvi street, civvis generally would get more trade experience than you also. Dont go intellegence or anything like that, they look foward to their yearly APWT at the most. Definately dont join as an officer too, there is a better bond between the juniour ranks, besides i absoultely hate sprog officers trying to brief me up on my job! As said consider marines mate, The course is hard but youll enjoy it! Good luck

Yes, it was just my opinion, he role they play is more trade based than infantry skilled. If thats the route he'd like to take good for him, i was just pointing out all be it the wrong way the intellegence and the same sort of corps etc are by no means front line troops, but yes, they play an important role on tour as does everyone.

Then you don't know very much about the Int roles, I can assure you it doesn't just involve sitting in listening stations, you'd be suprised who you come across in front line situations without even knowing it.

Have a look at this and tell me about front line again:

Why do people comment on subjects that they have no idea about?

Why don't you back up your claims with some facts?

No idea? I have an idea because ive signed off and im going into civvi street with qualifications that do not match civvi standards, as are many people i know. Im not looking for an argument here, i was giving my opinion, there are courses that will benifit you in civi street but they rarely give them to you as its no use to them, other than resettlement. The course you get put through also rarely match civvilian qualifications for similar courses.

The det now the SRR, is not intellegence corps, its attached to the sas much like the sigs support they get. This is not what you get if you join the corps, its elite. Anyone can apply for selection aslong as they meet the criteria. Im going to assume you were intel?

Re: British Army

Also did 9 years in the Army, but that was some years ago. Don't bother with the paras; you won't get a trade there which will be useful in civvy street, although it is indeed a great regiment. Sandhurst generally demands a degree, (but not if you are Royalty!) Another possibility as mentioned is the RAF; especially electronic engineering side. Don't let them push you into the Pioneers (Chunkies) or the RAF Regiment.
