![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: diazpan thanks for replies guys, well the fear came from a couple bad flights , had a emergency landing and although they told us it was a safe landing it scared the hell out of me as the plane bounce of the run way and thing cliped floor. i have tought about other methods but im very sceptical of hypnotherapy, and havent got cash to waste atm why would you not touch it mate? w |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: diazpan Well its used in medicine to prevent seizures (in emergency medicine), panic attacks, various psychological issues. It works by supressing the CNS, thus it has a groovy interaction with any other drug that does the same thing (alchol, barbiturates, opiates) and enhances there efect - whilst extreemly groovy its also dangerous as its easy to OD on the other substances even though its hard to OD on valium itself (compaired to say barbiturates). The seizures are supressed by the drug acting apon the conductive sodum in your brain, whilst this is efective in most cases it also causes a intrseting side efect. Think about it when you think/learn your brian uses electrical impulces to recall and also to record new information. If diazepam is supressing the sodum that facilitates this then what do you think happens to your ability to think clearly and learn? Yes corect its impaired. Thats the reasion behind you not being able to operate machinery/vehicles. There is some critique of doctors over precribeing vallium as its a way for them to avoid the real underlying problem that causes your physchological issues in the first place. Its just a more acceptable medical alternative to drinking yourself into a drunken stupour. If you had more time, hyponsis & councling to explore the underlying issues related to your phobia of flying would have been more efective as the drugs are just masking whats realy at the heart of the issue. But as a short term fix as long as you dont get addicted it should be fine. Dont drink on the plane. Dont do drugs on the plane your be fine. |

It is addictive there is no question about that but form my experiance its not you take t once and are hooked type of drug. Alot of the p[roblems with Benzo's as a whole are due to them being over prescribed and peopel staying on them to long.

![]() | Re: diazpan That suprises me as doctors don't really like to give them out unless the case is serious (being such a strong drug), i'm not saying your case is not, but if he has every smackhead in town will be trying that excuse..... I guess he has prescribed you the white 2mg ones, which are the mildest version, but as stated above if you can help it or think of another alternative I would'nt take them as they can be very dangerous and highly addictive.(mainly high doses) In short as Lost Soul said 'stay away' |

![]() ![]() | Re: diazpan i was given diazpan by the doc a couple months back after i pulled my back deadlifting, to ease the muscle spasms, to be honest i only took 1 and it made me sleepy, maybe you should ask the doc for some beta blockers, which will stop your heart racing which is the thing that makes panic attacks worse, |

If you decide not to take the vallium then perhaps some alternative herbal cure could help you. It strikes me as terible that a doc would prescribe somthing so harsh as vallium to someone so young. But the thing is your choose one or the other, not both. Anyway like the others have said for a one shot (or twice in your case as I assume your comming back) there shouldnt be any issues. Pack a good relaxation cd/mp3 you can listen to on the plane and in the airport as its the anticipation that will rase your heart rate alot. If you can control your emotions from when you enter the airport then it should be much better for you. As probably your phobia is triggered by location as well as the flying itself. |
