Mayors Want to Make Florida Two States

A fight is brewing in Florida that could split the state into two.
"Our residents, and all south Florida residents, have had enough. We want equal representation for everybody," said Jack Brady.
Two Florida mayors want to make two states out of one, North Florida and South Florida.
Margate Mayor Pam Donovan and North Lauderdale Mayor Jack Brady say the southern part of the state is carrying the largest tax burden, but getting back much less in services and political priorities important to citizens there. It would take an act of congress to make the areas of Palm Beach County, Fort Lauderdale-Broward County, Miami Dade and Florida Keys-Monroe County the nation's 51st state.

The state either needs to start listening to our needs, or this is the real solution to the problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this.

F*ck shamoo, he's from n florida.

It's basically because south florida pays almost all the taxes in this state and the state government f*cks us with their own agenda. The way I look at it is that if our needs are not met by the state than why should we pay our taxes to them?

FL has one of the highest populations and is one of the most prosperous states in the US. Yet we are now ranked 50th in education funding because of the states new budget cuts. South FL wants better education and transit, but the people up north say they know what's better for us.

Mate, you've got it backwards. The US is just another piece of the British empire. We may have kicked your asses in the revolutionary war to gain our independence, but we haven't gotten out of bed with the brits since the first pilgrims got to plymouth rock.

With all due respect i dont think a UK based muscle forum will yield many people who actually know much about this and whilst i feel for your plight cant see much in the way of counter argument against the motion.
I keep fairly up to date with world news but ATM this doesnt rank highly in UK based world news. Burma and Austria are flavour (or flavor to you guys) of the moment

There was the same debate in California about 15 years ago I believe. Nothing came of it.
