Ok sailors lets pretend I'm not that bright.

What do I need to get downloading with Newsgroups again...?

I had something ages and ages ago which my mate had set up. But then I moved to torrents.

tell me what I need in nice simple terms, and I'll get on it

I use these Programs dude.

www.newzbin.com
www.newsleecher.com

Other people will use different ones though, its what ever takes your fancy and can use easily

newleecher has a built in search, there are a few indexing sites about too. giganews has the longest retention but are the most expensive.

newshosting for the provider, newsleecher as a client and binaryinvasion.com for an indexing site. binaryinvasion are having a few problems at the moment but is slowly getting back to normal.

if you can speak dutch there are a lot of indexing sites. for grown up stuff i use www.kleverig.nl yep its dutch, but the language isn't a barrier in that sites case..

I try and use free sites but there is one that may well be worth paying for if you get heavily into it and that is http://www.newzbin.com/browse/cat/p/movies/ at the moment i look for the headers with newsleecher but i may pay for premium with them to just get the nzb's ready created.

my problem is finding stuff i havent got.... my dvd collection is now in the 5000 disk region and the porn dvd's about 4000 discs... I use movie collector to index all of them... http://www.collectorz.com/movie/

I use the above but instead of newsleecher I use alt.binz now as it's free and does the job if not better than newsleecher.

720p and 1080p films where the exist.

Films at 320 look shocking on the PS3 (which I use as my DVD/media player) - and all the encoding current being done by the kiddies on teh net means dark/black areas are massively pixelated.

I found the newsgroup a pain in the a$$ but probably never put much effort in. So I'll share with you my fellow metal pir8's some little gems I found recently and since then 5.6Terebytes of storage at home is almost all used up except a few gigs!!!

Most 720p are 4.5gb and 1080p are between 8Gb to 12GB.

They rely on rapidshare or megashares accounts. Use "Internet Download Manager" and suck your line dry. Rapidshare is cheap around £4.50 per month and can get megashares for £18.00 for 6months.

Rapidshars allows 25Gb every 5 days... painfull but has all the content.
Megashares allows unlimeted downloads but has less.
