Also, PS3 multiplatform games are typically more expensive then the 360 version even though your often getting an inferiour product.

For example, GAME, Gamestation, WHSmith will be selling GTA4 for 45 quid for PS3 vs 40 quid for 360. Why?

Supply and demand... Xbox is going / has gone end of life, ps3 is still a new product

I think the PS3 **** raping is just the retailers way of trying to extract as much money from gullible PS3 owners as possible. Thank god for online places like play.com

So your saying that the three year old console, upon which new development has all but ceased, would not be considered to be going end of life....?

Development is continuing on the ps3, with new versions being produced based around a new core...

Xbox 360 all the way more games and much much better online play cant beat xbox live.

At my house we have 360 and ps3 we put the same game on each console on the same tv put it in split scrren and the xbox has better graphics, now the ps3 sits there covered in dust

Good thing about the ps3 its one of the cheapest blu ray players you can buy.

I don't know where you go that info from but software dev on the 360 is still going strong, why wouldn't it be with over 11 million units sold? Games compaines would be mad not to continue development for it. I can think of several titles that are out later this year which I have been exited about for a while. Fable 2 for example, GoW2.

The most annoying thing for the Ps3 fans is that most titles are developed natively for the 360 then ported/emulated over to the ps3, meaning that most cross platform games are simply better on the 360.

Gerneally when buying a new console I will go by which one is leading the market, as the games will be more in abundance and generally better. This is why I was so annoyed when I owned a xbox and the ps2 overtook it like mad - the lack of games etc. Very frustrating.

Ok. So you were being serious. The reason why MS has reduced the 360 price is that it's in the plan. You negotiate with your suppliers on a cost reduction model, reduce the price at retail for deeper market penetration. They now have attained mass market pricing for the 360.
What you have to remember is MS are a 1000 lb gorilla with very deep pockets.

MS are counting on the fact that the PS3 is an inherently more expensive design and Sony can not cut the price any further then they have now.

Also, dev is strong on the 360 and there are a lot more games in development for 360 vs PS3.

Its a bit like applications are still being developed for windows xp... Yet XP can gone end of life. Where as work is still continueing on Vista...

New hardware designs are on the way which is also true of PS3 also, development tools are also being worked on for both consoles.

In no way can you consider the 360 a static or dying platform. It's only halfway in it's lifetime.

Simple GTA 4 exclusive game content! Nuff said!

I do not have both, however I will be getting a PS3, the xbox seems to have less FPS drops in more graphic intense scenes than on the PS3. My friend has a PS3 with As Creed and COD4 and the xbox 360 seems to be "faster" in the sense of a few more FPS which I find noticeable. People will argue the toss about both. They both have there pro's and cons however the Playstations biggist pro is the blueray player, its the cheapist one out there and has the ability to download updates for it.

Xbox seems to be more of a online platform in my sense. They have been going with the online thing for years so they have tweaked a lot of things and ironed out a lot of bugs. PS3 online is also really good. I dont know about the rest of you but I generaly play my games online and online only and from what I have read - again this is something I do not have first hand expirience the netcode on the PS3 is a bit dodgy.

PS3 also lost a lot of exclusives, the resident evil series, the metal gear solid series, the GTA series. If I had the choice I would go with xbox. Also the ability of cross playform playing too is something that I belive only the xbox can do - Granted it is something they have only done with one title - that being Shadowrun but the future ability to play against people with PC's I like the idea of.

Are you saying that new version of the 360 are planned which will make use of technological advances...? (As in being done with the PS3...) In which case I withdraw all of my previous statements, and bow to you knowledge...

Otherwise hardware development would be considered static, and therefore is on the path to/approaching end of life

Game development is different.

But its all good fun on t'internet

Vista and future windows gaming are all interlinked with Gold accounts and Xbox live as I said above ^^ So if you do play games on PC and you want to play them against other people be prepaired to fork out £4.99 a month or £39.99 a year ( or £25 on ebay ) were as with a xbox live account you can interlink the two and geek it up like I did!

However get an elite for the HDMI cable! True 1080p makes yetiman hard tbh irl.
