If your not technical minded then prob a computer shop that carries out console repairs.

You can simply adjust the potentiometer on the laser so it has more power and picks up the game easier resulting in no/fewer disc read errors.

do you know of any specifc contracts?

the ones ive seen are in the newspaper from some dodgey company, looks really good until you get your microscope out and read the small print...

good thing ive read about the ps3, it can be used as a tv recorder, allowing you (like sky +) to record 2 channel at once. You can also link your pc/laptop to it by wireless. This is perfect if you stream alot of new films etc.

Apparently it can record whats on the current channel if you add some additional software to it under linux... It doesn't have a built in tuner so I don't see how it can record 2 channels at once...?

Xbox has more games and they both basically look the same. Qaulity wise Microsoft could learn alot about build quality as I'm sending mine back for the second time.

for it to act as a sky+ box it needs to have to tuners and if you download the soft ware theoretically it can still only have one unless your laptop / pc is connectted aswell but then you have a split in your media storage. i am very con fused by this any way as already pointed out get the ps3 its far far better

For me, PS3 all the way a blu ray dvd player and games console combined! that and my bro already has a 360 so its a no brainer really

I only use gaming consoles for... Gaming. I couldn't care less if yo can email, surf the web, watch films on it... I have computers that will always do that a million times better than any console.

At the moment the 360 has more games and in general better games, as has been said Sony in their finite wisdom make the SDK very hard to use, so you won't see the true potential of the ps3 come out for a good couple of years, by which time the next xbox will be close to production.

The other side of the coin is cost of course, you pay a couple of hundred quid more to have the luxury of blu ray on a gaming console... Kinda pointless if you ask me... Too much fluff.

Then the final (and for me most important) point. Microsoft (regardless of what people think of them) have been extremely good to their console customers. With the original xbox any customers who bought one at the release price were given 2 free games and a control pad as a consellation when MS dropped the price of the unit (no effing way on earth Sony would ever do that). With the current g1 xbox 360s (which tend to fail from red ring of death) they will repair them for free, out of warranty... You see they really do care about their customer base when it comes to consoles, they have made a loss on every console ever made - would Sony do the same? Hell no, they are too busy serving cease-and-decist orders to any poor sod who tries to import a console lik-sang.com).

I'm not saying MS are saints. When it comes to Windows I thikn that many of thei programmers deserve to be executed, but in the console world they have been by far the best to deal with.

Is it not the case that XBOX is basicly p.c hardware so developers are very familiar with writing software for the xbox or even just porting them over from p.c's. Whereas they are having to learn how to use the newer arcitecture of the the sony.

But that has always been the case with consoles, it's microsoft that came up with the idea of using existing technology (i.e p.c) and putting it in a box, great idea. Minimal development costs with a huge number of titles easily ported over for launch time.

No it's a weird thing. Bought a new Panasonic plasma and it started soon after that. It's a 50" 1080p so I set the consoel 1080i and problems appeared soon after.

Best to describe it is taking a photo and then replacing the colour pallete with a 16 colour palette. Colours dont look right at all and sometimes it comes right for a second and then goes back and degrades even more. Then it stopped turning on, no display nothing. I tried setting it to 720p but it seemed to be sending a signal the TV wont accept anymore. Sent away it came back and worked for a night then the other day it started again. And I only use the dam thing twice a month maybe!!

Not too phased about it though... keen to have it going for GTA4
