![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Powerlifting / Natty Powerlifting Comps Abbreviated training I would class it as. I tend to change my routine every 4-8 weeks depending on how the gains are going, but the following are always in: Deads Squats Bench (Flat or Incline) OHP (Of some kind) Chins And these get rotated: SLDL Dips Leg Ext CGBP I'm currently starting a Push/Pull/Dynamic split. I monitor progress overall by testing 1rm/2rm on Deads/Squats/Flat bench maybe every month or so. |

At the end of the day some of us just aren't built for lifting & need to accept that & then do what we can to change it.

| v&e for the win | Re: Powerlifting / Natty Powerlifting Comps Looks ok apart from the 1rm testing as these can fvck your cns massively, like If I go for a 1-rm on squat, dl and bench in the same day. I have around 2 weeks off as my lifts are a lot weaker for around a fortnight Do you incorporate speed work into the above? |

But once a month one of the above will tend to get tested. For example last start started out as 20 rep deads, and ended up with me pulling 170kgs for a double. Hmmmm 'Speed Work' is sort of done on Dynamic Day - we are still sorting the lifts, but currently looking at: Power Clean Push Press Power Jerk/Jerk/Split Jerk and rotating in Jump Squat in week 3. I do tend to do some speed work on Squats and Deads if I'm not feeling 'strong'.

| Gym Addict | Re: Powerlifting / Natty Powerlifting Comps TH&S Im 6'5ft so close to your height and think the long limbs thing definitely plays into it!! My PB bench is 120kg but my deadlifts and squats are no where near as good as yours. outstretched my arms measure 6'10ft from finger tip to finger tip! which was great for basketball but absolutely ****e for this game! |

| v&e for the win | Re: Powerlifting / Natty Powerlifting Comps lol I love those kind of sessions. I'd say its more effective to develop strength with an upper lower over a PPL variant as you can have 2 heavy days and 2 days totally on speed and assistance work. If you are considering a PL meat then you want to do DE work on bench squat and dead, as you mainly want to get specifically stronger at these lifts, all other work should just be assistance or heavy. ( apologies if you know :beer1 ![]() Edit: never thought I'd say "I love being 5'8!" |
