if a plane is on a massive treadmill.....

Imagine a plane is sitting on a massive conveyor belt, as wide and as long as a runway. The conveyer belt is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off?

have a think about it, dont google it, doesnt make it as fun!

Re: if a plane is on a massive treadmill.....

No, because the plane requires air to be moving above and below the wings.

Re: if a plane is on a massive treadmill.....

no... it needs the air acting on the wings to make it fly... running stationary on a treadmill means it is just burning fuel

Re: if a plane is on a massive treadmill.....

no cos as said, the pressure difference above and below the wing cannot creat lift without movement of air against the wing,...

its ecactly the opposite as if you sit a stationary plane on a runway with the brakes on, and blow a massive fan at it,....it WILL lift straight up in the air,....

Re: if a plane is on a massive treadmill.....

ok try this one,.....

if you set up a loaded gun barrel one metre above the ground TOTALLY PARRELELL to the ground.

and then hold another bullet of the same type a metre above the ground,

you fire the gun , and as soon as the bullet leaves the barrell , you simply drop the bullet from your hand,

which will hit the floor 1st???

dont just guess ....i need an explanation,..

reps for the best explanation
