riddle

three men go out for a meal they all order the same thing which cost's £10 they each give the waitress a 10er she goes to the till an return's with £5 and tell them there is a special offer on £5 off the lad's cant split the £5 evanly so they each take 1 pound an tell the waitress to keep the other £2

so now they've had a pound back they've each payed £9 an the waitress has had £2

3x£9= £27 + the £2 the waitress had that's £29 where's the other pound gone?

It hasnt gone anywhere

£30 went into the till
She took 5 pound back for discount so now £25 in till
She kept*£2 and each man had £1 that equals £5 so add whats in till to the £5 between waitress and men equals £30 so i would say the £1 is not missing at all

Re: riddle

You dont add the two pound at the end you deduct it as it was given back to them. £30 -£2(tip) -£3 (£1 each for the men £9 each) = £25 pound simple.

Re: riddle

there is no answer it's two totally different Equations neither of you have solved it as it can not be solved your just basically re-wording the fist half of it were as if you look at it the other way there is a pound missing as they have all payed 9 an she has had two this is fact an you cant dispute that it makes 29 it's two totally diferant equations an cannot be solved

£25 went into the till, the sexy waitress with long legs got £2 (25+2), and the men had £1 back each (25+2+3x1=30)

but the 2 quid was part of the £27 (3x£9) the men paid. they paid 27 and each got £1 left in the pocket. so it`s not 27+2 but 27+3

Re: riddle

yes thats 1 way of looking at it... but if you give me 10 an i give you 1 back you've give me 9 that's a fact you cant debate it it's simple arithmetic an three 9's are 27 are they not? 27+2=29 correct?

Re: riddle

you cant use the 3 again thats already out the picture weve already took the 3 off which is why they paid 9 not 10 (because they had a pound back) if we swapped the two for the three like your trying to do they'd have payed 9.3333333333333333333r not 9 an for them to have payed that they'd of had to get 66.666666p back not a pound

Re: riddle

They ended up paying 9 quid each, but that doesn't mean 3x9, it's just to confuse.

Thirty quid in the till, she brings back five, they keep three and give two to her, which equals the 5.

25 + 5 = 30.

Easiest riddle in the world me thinks lol.

But each man DIDNT pay £9, each man paid £10 but the waitress gave them 5 quid back...then they took 3 quid from that 5 and gave the waitress the other 2.

As follows:

£25 (in the till) = 3x£10 (that men gave) - £3 (that the men recieved back) - £2 (the men gave as a tip to waitress)

=

25 = 30 - 3 - 2

Rearrange to make:

30 = 25 + 3 + 2

Groan.

Initial Amount Paid = Meal + Refund + Tip

30 = 25 + 3 + 2

Total Paid = Meal + Tip

27 = 25 + 2

The pay 9 each, they have 1 in their pockets, and the waitress has the 2.

Deal with it.
