Re: British Army...

the army is a good option if your willing to take some sh1t and work hard, be able to think and act under pressure and lead! this is why the army only suits the few,but because the british army is voluteer based is why we have the best armed forces in the world bar none.
so if you feel it might be for you then go ahead,my brother has been in the paras for over 10 years and loves it! and would reccomend it only for the people who love there country and are willing to work hard.like the advert says be the best

Re: British Army...

the dog training would be good because if you come out you could join the police and be a dog handler for them, let them german sheperds get them scunbags.

That's what I was thinking, there has got to be plenty of work with all the terrorist threats for bomb dog handlers...

Dog Trainer or Dog Handler?? The first is RAVC based at Melton Mowbray it used to be just Army but now it's all three services, you will train dogs for other people from Guard Dogs up to Spec Dogs, you may do the occassional tour where you get to work the Dog but they are far and few, you'll mainly go to be there to refresh the dogs etc..

Dog Handler you'll be issued with a dog and work it, ie. in Search Team or Guard Duty.

There is a big difference between the two. It is very very hard to get into the RAVC, when I was in the forces it used to be somthing like 4-6 Dog Trainers, about two farriers and then about 20 or so Vet Asst per year.

All units depending where they are will have dog handlers from Marines, Para's, RMP etc.... I did my first course with 3 guys from the paras and rest from various infantary units. So once in a Regiment you still have the option to do this.

Anyway, if you want a bit more inside info drop me a PM I can tell you a bit more.
