Is it too soon?

Hi all,

Just wanted to get some thoughts, i switched my routine up about 2 weeks ago, from your conventional BB workout to a power lifting routine.

I used to do the usual 4 day split and got a bit bored with doing the same old thing. I then read an article on here about Power lifting routines, and thought about giving it a go.

I now do a 3 day split consisting of this.

Monday:
Flat bench 5x5 @115 kg
Squat 5x5 @200kg

Wednesday:
Dead lift 5x5 @ 120kg
Barbell rows 5x5 @ 85kg

Friday:
Weighted Dips 5x5 @ 26kg
Squats: 5x5 @ 200kg

I know its only been 2 weeks but already my legs feel much thicker along with my arms, my forearms ache for a good 3-4 days after my Wednesday workout. Im 26, totally clean and weigh 92kg at around 13% bf.

Any one think of anything i can put into the workout or take out etc?

Re: Is it too soon?

Nah man, you've only been doing the routine for 2 weeks and, as you say, you've noticed some nice increases. If I were you, I'd keep bangin' it until you go stale. There are many out there just trying to find a routine that works for them, you've got one so keep on keepin' on :P.

Here's a question though. When you substitute the dips for the presses on your friday, is that the only day that will have an exercise swapped out for another one in the rotation ? For example, suppose on your Deadlift/Row day #2 in the rotation would you substitute pullups in place of the Rows ? Just curious.

I was thinking about doing that, but was going to give it another week before i did, as when i do the rows, i feel my arms get a good workout. I will try weighted pullups after next week.

Good question!!

I got it from an article from trickydicky69, he seemed to be getting good gains from it so i tweaked it ever so slightly to suit me, im a lot heavier than him so thought doing 5x5 would be better for me.

I had some guy talk to me in the gym this morning and he said to me, your arms are looking thicker.

I'd never spoken to him before, so didnt know what to say to him appart from...Thanks!!
