Re: DISPATCHES ON BBC1

i dont dislike fat people... not everyone wants to goto the gym and workout...

but... fat people who always say i cant lose weight and dont try or just looking for the magic way out... they p1ss me off!

fat people who i see in the gym... 4 times a week..respect there trying... the hard bit is diet!!...it takes detemination, willpower, consistancy... it's way harder than the workout!

just my 2p!

I agree, I have much more respect for obese ppl who at least try and do something about their predicament.

Re: DISPATCHES ON BBC1

my Dad is a heavy guy, he has always been, but he never seems to eat and his evening meal is always reasonably healthy. Past few days I have been making him have breakfast at the office (work together) and lunch as well. After a week he has lost 6lbs. So he's eating more and losing weight. Just proving a lot of the comments on here correct. Was getting really worried about him as he is 5'10 and 20 stone. Always been a big guy but put on fat steadily over the past few years. So this has given the family a bit of hope for him for the future. After another 3 weeks of dieting Im going to join another gym to do my cardio with him in the mornings. 4.5 stone to lose by august is the goal. Think that is a bit extreme but you never know.

Think a lot of the problem is bad mainstream information. EAT LESS LOSE WEIGHT! It's amazing how deluded a lot of the general population are when it comes to weight. The information is obviously out there to be found, especially on forums like this. But as a main I think there is way too much bs out there.

Sorry for the delay in replying TinyTom,i take what has been prescribed for me by the specialist at the hospital and by my two doctors.I haven't looked into what this drug does so have no idea. What i can also tell you is,i have a 'goitre' which grows if i dont take the 'thyroxine'(100mg) and obviously if i dont take these i end up with a 'strangling' feeling.

Does that help?

i'm sure there are many people with thyroid issues who find it very easy to gain fat, and many whose naturally fast metabolism stops them from being obese. but regardless of thyroid issues, genetic factors or speed of metabolism, it is IMPOSSIBLE for ANYBODY to gain fat unless they take in more calories than they burn. it is like telling a bricklayer to build a wall without bricks. it aint gonna happen!!

people who are vastly overweight and undergo surgery to fit a gastric band often achieve dramatic weight loss. this surgery does nothing to alter their metabolism or thyroid levels - it simply stops them consuming excess calorieS.

obesity IS NOT caused by medical conditions. medical factors can only contribute to obesity. there is only one cause of obesity and that is ingesting more calories than are used.
well said Tommy, i dont' care what medical disorder someone might have, that will only contribute to about 5 % wieght gain. the rest will be as a result of eating to much and not doing any exercise.

there are quite a few factors that produce a goiter, but goiters can be produced by both underactive and overactive thyroid,so it would seem that you could possibly have an underactive thyroid by meds been discribed(im not a doctor so don't quote me on that)
