And you'll find yourself getting charged with broadband theft - it's happened before, it's covered by the Computer Misuse Act.

Virgin does tend to be faster, but that's because they run a fibre optic cable to your house, whereas providers using BT's backbone have to use ADSL-standard copper wire.

Re: Broadband

I love Virgin 20mb broadband. Im a speed freak online due to games and what not. Only reason I would change is if a fast ISP came out. Customer service always been ace. They only allow 2 broad bands a house hold and were nice and let me have 3.

They dont run fiber optic to the house only to the cabinet then they use coaxial cable

I stand corrected! Either way, it still makes a noticeable difference. Or so I'm told.

In rural Northern Ireland they have broadband by satellite, to the local exchange at least.

Re: Broadband

Last night - out of the blue - I got a call from a call centre monkey at BT, offering me a £3/month discount on my broadband if I remained a customer for another 12 months. Good deal, IMO.

Re: Broadband

I'm on Sky

Pay £10 for the max package

Supposed to get 16mbps but I think cos of the distance from the exchange I get 14 which is still fast so I'm not complaining about that

I will complain about the poxy router they supply which grinds to a halt very few days and need rebooting and there tech support, it absolutely f**king useless!

I had a problem sending/recieving email and there solution was to reset my was on sky.com and wait 7 days, if that didnt work I would not be able to use there email!

I just hung up on the f**ker!
