Ray for me, while fair play to bear he would be able to get you out of the "****" he would do this by any means possible, eating live sneaks etc...

while if i was with ray he would have a log cabbin built and hog roast set up by evening so we could live comfortibly there and wait to be rescued

Ray is the man but a tad too nice,i'd probably kill him due to his niceness then die a slow death because i don't know how to survive. Bear on the other hand would have some great stories from his SAS days .

I like em both, I like Bears programme better though, much better viewing than Mr nicey

I think for someone his age, Bear has racked up a more impressive resume/cv IMO, he's more an adventurer ala' Ranulph Fiennes (also ex SAS officer)

Then again, id prolly get a better nights kip by letting Mear talk me to sleep...lol

Ray Mears without a doubt. Hes been around a lot longer and isnt full of BS just to impress the viewers.
I was a big Bear fan after reading his book but i cant even watch an advert with him in now without yelling obscenities at the telly. 3 reasons.
1 - the programme with him and his toffy nosed public schoolboy 'adventurer' mate when they were in nepal with parachutes and propeller backpacks. The programme lead you to believe they were trying to fly over the summit of everest, utter rubbish, the end of the programme and it becomes clear that they were only trying to fly as high as the summit but in reality they were over 50 miles away.
2 - Camera trickery used in one of his canyon films where he leaps from one boulder to the next apparently on the exposed edge of a huge canyon, not so! he was in no danger at all and they used camera perspectives to fool your eye.
3 - the famous 'im going to live with native indians deep in the amazon (or where ever it was) and eat and sleep as they do' - it was all over the news that he slept in a hotel with the film crew when not filming.

I hope Ray Mears kidnaps him and turns him into leather boots for a needy tribe somewhere.

lol that must be one of the worst rationales i've EVER heard of. i once beat up a person, therefore i can beat up anyone in the world because they're just people.


anyone bear for me, he's a bit more of a mans man, and i think he'd get me out of the sh1t quicker albeit a bit rougher than ray would.
