Fair enough, you'll lose out but you won't do it again, ive been in same situ, and I totally blank thew cvnts these days. You shouldn't p1ss a mate off.

I only keep in touch with ppl I trust and have proven it over the years, too many knobends around.

Cap, money can destroy many relationships/friendships but then again can be the thing that shows someones true colours.

I moved here in May 2002, and flew home for holiday in March 2003. My mate wanted my car. It was a Opel 2lite 16v DOHC care, I had fitted a wicked sound system, low profile wheels, nice mags and a free flow exhaust. Deal was he would pay me R10.000 cash and take over payments. To date he still ows me R6000.00 (£436.97).

Another friend... I bought him a router when he needed one (£110), I lent him my camera and then discussed him buying it (£100+-), I sold him a CPU and motherboard (£120.00), lent him £50 when he was butt broke and there was other thing which I cant recall but last discussion I said to him I stoped counting after £600.00!!! This is over a course of 3 years. He's always broke so cant pay me.... though he did buy a nice polo recently on finance for £5000!!

Another close friend called me up recently. he has been unemployed, without a job and battling to pay the month rent that was coming and asked if I could help him out.... I said I was broke.

No longer will I support those that cant get off their butt and make their own money!! It's a shame cause the first two mates I would have given them any spare organ of mine they needed.....note... would have!!

I know where you coming from Cap. Some people will take you for a ride and wont respect anything of yours if they have not had to pay for it. Who needs friends like that.

its the other way round for me,
i was offered a pretty good business deal for my company,but as iv just paid my tax bill i didnt have the money spare.
i had a mate demanding that i borrow the money off him so i didnt miss out on the deal.
but i refused just incase something happens & i cant pay it back.
dont like oweing mates money, especially lots of money!

I find you cant pigeon hole mates or you will be dissapointed!!
Basically if you have mates that you can count on for everything 100% then you are very lucky, I have a couple and consider myself very fortunate...

But then I have other mates where i accept their failings as it were and know what i can count on them for.....
For instance i have one mate who is handy as fcuk and will go out of his way to help you out in a tight spot... but he is tight as ar5eholes so when i need a bit of physical support i give him a call, but if i needed any kind of financial help then clearly he would not be 1st port of call.
And vice-versa i have mates generous to a tee but would leg it 1st sign of trouble...

Then there is the mates that are good to talk too because you know you can trust them not to tell anyone 100% but prob rubbish in other areas, same as guys that would help you out but not be able to keep their mouths shut.

Everyone has failings, you just have to identify what your mates ones are and not put them in a situation where they can let you down

I can count my best friends on 2 fingers.
A real friend would never ask you for money and a real friend would go out of his way to pay it you back.
unfortunately far too many people these days just take the **** and somtimes you have to make that mistake with somone and learn from it.
peronsally i never ever ask anyone for anything, unless it is somthing very small and trivial.

The failing is mostly down to you bro for lending the £80 and DVD to people whom you should have not. It was a failing on your judgement. Do not let people like this put you off offering someone help in the future as not everyone is like this.

Sounds like they were taking you for a ride all along. As harsh as it sounds they dont give you any respect because you role over and take it. If someone has wronged me id do a damn sight more than send them a pi55y text message. That doesnt have to mean violence either, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Reminds me of earlier in the year a few of us were goin to malia and one of the lads lent his "mate from work" £400 this was in april they guy still aint give it him!

my friend has now sold the debt for £300 to a very rough b@stard who is now gonna get £600 off the guy!

serves they guy right my mate has given him plenty of opertunities to give it back but the guy always says "tomorrow" well the saying is right tomorrow never comes!

I only lend money to very close friends and thats only if there desperate!

What he said, real friends would not **** you other like that. The only people i can count on is my family and 2 friends that i count as extended family almost like brothers we have done some funny and stupid **** together and would back each other up without giving it a second thought.

Everybody else i know even though i have known some of them for two decades lol i would not trust them with anything personal or physical that belongs to me.
