0.5kg plates

Does anyone know where i can buy small plates 0.5kg that will fit an olympic bar? I have found some on the internet but not any that fit the big Olympic bars.

Re: 0.5kg plates

I dont understand why you would need 0.5kg plates for an olympic bar? I think anything under 2.5kg isnt lifting anything more at all - you may as well start weighing clips and recording those.

Re: 0.5kg plates

That is a very ignorant statement.

If you are benching 200kg x 6, and near the limit of your strength, jumping 5kg (2.5 a side), or even 2.5kg, is a huge amount, where as adding just 1kg or even 1/2kg to the bar will allow for continued progress.

If you add too much too soon, your body is unable to adapt, and you hit a wall and progress no more.

People who ignore the small plates, are normally the ones who stay the same year after year, I know many of them.

Re: 0.5kg plates

Just as Nytol has said above for the reason of having them, I have personally got a set of 0.25kg plates and 0.5kg plates so i can effectively just add 0.5kg to a bar at a time or 1kg at a time,

http://www.gymequipment.uk.com/store...pic_Discs.html

Very useful for Powerlifting and you will often see them used there when pople are going for records by just an extra 0.5 or 1kg

Re: 0.5kg plates

those weights seem ridiculously expensive. Make some yourself from wood, concrete. Or do as I have done in the past and put a can of beans, tuna etc, in a carrier bag and wrap it around the bar.

Re: 0.5kg plates

I am going to go to a DIY store tomorrow and see if i can buy 1 kg magnets or large washers, as £10-£15 is a bit much and thats without postage. I train in a gym so the can of beans isn't really ideal!!

Re: 0.5kg plates

You can get those wrist/ankle weights from argos etc, they are pretty cheap...

Or have your engineer brother make you up a pair of .25/.5/1kg plates
