If you are benching 200kg x 6, and near the limit of your strength, jumping 5kg (2.5 a side), or even 2.5kg, is a huge amount, where as adding just 1kg or even 1/2kg to the bar will allow for continued progress. If you add too much too soon, your body is unable to adapt, and you hit a wall and progress no more. People who ignore the small plates, are normally the ones who stay the same year after year, I know many of them.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 0.5kg plates Just as Nytol has said above for the reason of having them, I have personally got a set of 0.25kg plates and 0.5kg plates so i can effectively just add 0.5kg to a bar at a time or 1kg at a time, http://www.gymequipment.uk.com/store...pic_Discs.html Very useful for Powerlifting and you will often see them used there when pople are going for records by just an extra 0.5 or 1kg |
