Anybody a member of "Second Life" ?

Its amazing how you can build your own body the way you want it to be in your "first life" !!

Yeah, there are a few of these, Second Life has really taken off big time!

Second Life is similar to your internet chat room, only in a 3 dimensional graphical virtual world!
Where you first create your man/woman avator (character), and can then walk around in this massive virtual environment, and chat to other people also walking around in there.

You can even build your own landscape/property/buildings, and people in the environment can then walk around and in the buildings you built.

So it's like having another lifestyle (a "second life"), where you spend time in this virtual world with your character, and socialise and wander and explore, and make new friends etc.

It's turned into an epic size, with 1000's and 1000's of members that 'inhabit' the virtual world, suppose the same way the internet started off as a small network between a couple of Universities, and now into THIS!

Not actually registered on 2nd Life, but might give it a try at some point

ive had a little look at it and can see how it could become really addictive, i cant help but think though you've got to be a little bit unhappy in your own life to want to create a virtual one

The thing about these environments, the same with your conventional chat rooms, anonymity!
So you could believe you are chatting to some really hot looking 'chick', however the "human" person behind the virtual character could be totally different - or even of the opposite sex!

You just never know who you are REALLY talking to! The characters become a mask.

these type of things always disturb me, i may be wrong but people that use these are probably dangerous sexual predators or they just have a life they are sick of so take the easy option of creating another one instead of making their real life better

Yes, that might be true. You can indeed 'buy' and 'sell' goods in the environment. That I think can be converted back into sterling/dollars.

There are infact some major commercial companies that you might encounter when buying products online that also have 'virtual stores' in 2nd life too!

Similar to the way you can manufacture and buy/sell "virtual" goods in the gaming Warcraft series?

there was a guy from wales and woman from america on richard and judy a few weeks ago.

they both met on this and were married 'in game' for years then met up for the first time and are now really getting married.

they used to spend 12 hrs+ online.. basically their lives on the pc
