Training with no free weights

Where I usually train has closed for 3 weeks, the nearest place to train would be my local sports centre which has a gym with good selection of machines but no free weights. Will it be detrimental to my training to go without free weights for 3 weeks? Will stay heavy on the machines and hit specific bodyparts as usual.

Re: Training with no free weights

no- muscles dont know if the resistance is from machines or free weights-just enjoy the change and get out of it what you can, change good sometimes see it as a positive, additionally - take a week off and rest, you will be stronger after recuperating for a week

not quite true...your muscles will know the difference so to speak. Free weights work your stabiliser muscles and generaly lead to quicker development. However three weeks resistance weights training wont do you any harm mate . As Paulo says, itll also be a good time to take a week off and recouperate. Go on holiday for one of the weeks or something...chillax. I wouldnt worry.

Re: Training with no free weights

everyone can benefit from a break. Your body needs it. not realy a great idea to train 4 days a week, every week of the year in a continous cycle. What Paulo was sying is that if your concerned about using machines over free weights for 3 weeks then why not just take a week of and let your body recouperate. The dedicated average gym goer will be all the better for it.

Re: Training with no free weights

I know big guys that pretty much only use machines... so I don't see why you would have anything to worry about.

Re: Training with no free weights

Will make a difference.

By using free weights it'll help with your core strength and stability, you'll still be ok, and will porbably still grow at the same rate but your balance wont be as good as if you were using free weights.
