Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

I used to have a base guitar many years ago, I think mine was an aria pro but dont ask me any thing else about it lol that was 10 years ago.... but electric its always good because with a good amp you can crank it up or just keep it low or even off and it wont **** the neighbours off.

Its like using a smith machine (electric) you can always smack more weight on (crank it up) but if you got fixed weight Accoustic (dumbles) there's a limit to how heavey in your case loud you can go. (Does that make sense) LoL

Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

Thanks for the reply DannyBoy and also using weights as terms to describe! Very clever - well done!

I probably will go for an electric bass to be honest as you say you can really crank it up and make some noise hehehe!!!!
I need to start having lessons too - gosh so much to do in so little time!!!!

Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

No worries, Glad you like my Weights interpretation lol

Good Luck Lauren, be prepaired for sore fingers, blisters and palm cramps, man that used to get me every time.... but it will get easier as time goes on.

I used to know people who use super glue on their finger tips to help get them used to the toughness of the strings (not sure if its a good idea but myabe try)

I could never get used to reading music just learnt to play by ear and watching others..... anyway have fun, maybe upload so riffs when you become a pro lol

Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

It depends on many things such as what you want to use it for, your experience, how much you wish to spend, personal prefference, playing ability etc

If you are a newbie / novice then I would suggest an electric bass. As for make / model dont worry to much about that. Pick the one that feels good and sounds good (Play them all). Hofner is a good starting point though.

Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

I love the sound of an accoustic bass.

Accoustics are usually harder to use to learn how to play, but worth it if you do.

Re: Electric Or Accoustic Bass Guitar???

If you're starting out defo just pick up a cheap amp and bass and get cracking, I learnt on a reasonably cheap bass out of the paper many moons ago before picking up the guitar.

I actually miss playing bass

http://www.soundsavers.com/catalog/i...2e&cPath=94_20

Soundsavers are dirt cheap but in this case they don't have much in.

Try ebay obviously

I started out on an Encore I think, budget make but done the job and then some. Alas the one on soundsavers is a lefty
