    | Video Game Big Brother Has anyone seen the news today? 2 topics on video game horror. The first I agree with The game Law and Order 2 has been pulled because it contains a picture of the Jamie Bulger murder. This is absolutely right and I dont know what the makers where thinking when they included it. The second is the refusal of a classification of Manhunt 2 because it might cause people to murder people. What a load of tosh. The game is aimed at adults over 18 so if kids get hold of it thats the fault of the parents. I for one am a (nearly) sane individual and if I want to play a game where I hack peoples heads off then I think I am capable of distinguishing that from reality. Same as I dont race my car after playing Ridge Racer or become a mafioso after playing GTA. I think its a bad precedent to make because this may spill over into films, literature etc. Also if someone is inclined to murder someone then not playing a video game is not going to stop them doing it. I really detest this sort of censorship. If a game is graphically violent then give it an 18 certificate and let adults choose if they want to play it or not. After all if a game is crap then people wont play it and it will get sh*t reviews. There is more to a game than just gore. And saying that someone was influenced by the game to murder someone is a thin grasp. So if a burglar had Oceans 11 in their DVD closet they would have been influenced by this ?

| Re: Video Game Big Brother Utter sh1te isn't it. I totally agree with the Jamie Bulger scene - what were they thinking? Apparently, it's the scene of him being walked away with both them d1ckheads. Beyond belief.

| Re: Video Game Big Brother games are no more violent than movies. We should ban all porn incase peoples daughters get hold of it and decide they too want to be gang banged by 100 guys at once. Did anyone copy Scream that you know of. The recent shooting in the states where they tried blaming it on video games. The kid never even owned a computer from what I recall or console. He was just a heart broken freak that lost the plot. I'll just buy Manhunt2 fromt he states or whever it's available from. I played Manhunt 1 and it was great seeing which level of attack you could perform on someone. GTA cross Manhunt would be awesome!!

| Re: Video Game Big Brother It's the type of society that we live in guys, people are almost encouraged not to take responsibility for their actions because somewhere along the line they can blame it the system ie.they grew up on a council estate, their parents were divorced, they played a computer game which contained violence!

But seriously they ban things for graphic imagery, well this is actually very interesting as last night I played a new game for the first time "Crackdown"... The premise of the game is that you are the hero, a government agency superhero type, it's your job to clean gangs out of the city. The upshot however is that all the bad guys are ethnic minorities: level 1: hispanics level 2: chineese level 3: blacks They shoudl have called the game ethnic clensor, it would be more apt. But seriously a game like this is ok because it doesn't actually show blood and guts.... Despite the fact that you are awarded heavily for stamping black people to death or setting chineese guys on fire. Really quite terrible when you think about it.

Now, correct me if I am wrong the church has killed millions of people in the past, who are they to comment. I think of shooting the place up when I go to church, which is about once every 15 years!!

| Re: Video Game Big Brother yeh it IS ridiculous. playing GTA never made me go out n bop a prostitute in my car whilst pulled over in a park...?!?!?!? altho...having said that there is always evidence such as Bandura et al...and the bo-bo doll. But it's probably only going to influence you to actually go out into the real world and act-out what you've seen on the screen if you already have some psychological disorder which makes you predisposed to doing something like that...in which case you probably would've gone out and done it at some point anyway. PS i love the knee-jerk reaction over video games. Iv read some horrific stuff in books thats far nastier than things iv seen in a video game...and no1 seems to ever accuse literature of causing people to go out and be deviant...well not since the marquis de sade anyway |

| Re: Video Game Big Brother i think if some idiot gets into a game like that then they may be influenced by it and try to act it out,all peoples minds dont think rationally! The reason i got into body building was by watching tom and jerry,the one where the bad cat kicks sand into toms face i thought if i get big and muscley i can be like the bad cat.
