Parents gettin worried

hi guys,

right, parents are p1ssin me off now with the whole BB thing, iv put on a fair bit of size and my mums said to me "well YOU dont want to get to much bigger do you?" i was like well yeah cos im not even that big and then my dad who used to BB and is way bigger than me said " YOU dont want to get to big."

WTF, they are speaking for me now by saying i dont want to get big when i do, i mean yeah im bigger than my mates but i aint fu*kin HeMan, is really p1ssin me off now. Also they wont let me use their card online anymo to try stop me buyin supps, so now i have to get my own (as im 18 in like a week now.) THey are trying to force me into what they want me to look like rather than what i want to be like.

I know that soon when i get bigger they will ask me if im taking roids (im not and wont) and this just p1sses me off, they dont even support me.

what do you think i should do cos no way am i stopping BB'in and i know eventually ill drift from my parents and they wont like what im doing?

Re: Parents gettin worried

Do you have a lot of supplements or buy a lot on a constant basis? If your dad was a bodybuilder then I assume he'd understand that you have to eat and train in a particular way, I can see why he'd be concerned if you were taking a lot of supplements though (pills/tabs in particular).

If they don't see you as honest or sensible then yeah they will question you on steroids, going by some of the posts you've made in the past I can see why they might get that idea.

What should you do? Wise up, they're concerned so lighten up on the supplement use and keep it to the basics (mutli-v, creatine, whey, eaa), stuff that you can happily explain to your folks if need be.

Re: Parents gettin worried

i do stick to the basics, but i dont buy in bulk(dont wanna spend to much at one time) so i have to buy whey alot, All i use is whey, hurrincane xs, NO-Xplode, and omega 3 and a multi vit which ppl not even working out use. They see me as sensible but they are just over-reacting as if they are trying to protect me.

What do you mean u can see what they mean from some of the posts i have made?

Re: Parents gettin worried

yeah i know what its like deejpj, I'm 17 and my mums the same. she always gives it the 'you don't want to get too big', i just kind of swtch off from it as my dad and uncle are pretty supporting. As for supps, I have my own card so order using that, otherwise she would be reluctant to let me use it to buy supps.

Re: Parents gettin worried

This is a tough one mate, my mum still occasionally passes comments like that too me and I'm 30 LOL.

Infact just the other day she said (After watching Greg Valentino), I hope thats not what your going to look like?

I just laughed and said: "Maw, shut he fcuk up", but deep down I know she just loves and cares for me still.

Its funny how when you are young that sort of question from yer mum ****es you off, but as you get older you sort of like it in a way as it just reminds you that "She loves you still and always will".

Buck up with the anti mum attidude, prove to her that you are not going to turn into gear etc and I am sure she will come round.

All she is doing is looking out for your best interests, unfortunatley youthful blindness is not allowing you to see it that way.

Re: Parents gettin worried

My mum is the same mate and I am 34!!!

She hates big muscles and just accused me of steroid use a couple of years back, charming!

Over time, she has got used to it and I dont get any comments now, so I think, if you dont mention it, she will just adapt.

Its like my GF never mentions how big I am, but at work, patients occasionally come in and say look how massive your arms are! It takes me by surprise as they arent that massive but its just what they are used to, its all perspective and the thing with perspective is with exposure its easily changed, I could give dozens of political examples.... but I wont

Re: Parents gettin worried

Mate get a grip man...

You sound as though your making your mum pay for these supps? i hope i'm wrong!

I am 18 years old and i have competed in 2 seasons. 1st season i was british champion and this season i did ok but not too well. I dieted both times providing my own financial support. I spent a lot more money this year than i did in 2005. I want to do it so it comes out my pocket.

Like delhi said - tell your mum and assure her you aint going to take steroids. But to go on swearing like that, i think you need to get a grip ifyou want to be a bodybuilder. Because you will hear this a lot more in the future. If i had a quid for everytime someone said that to me then I'd be a millionaire.

So go and sit with your parents and explain

You know Visa Electron cards are available for those 16(17? can't remember!) years old.

And by your previous threads I mean that one where you were talking about using steroids, apologies if that was not you. If they persist then I suggest you spend your money or real food, hell you'll probably enjoy bulking more then- I know I do.

Re: Parents gettin worried

Hey Deejpj
I am only 19 and i just returned home from renting a flat with may mates for the year. I have to spend all summer at home untill i go away to uni. Before i left i was taking promax after i went to the gym and upon waking....the folks didnt even realise.

When i returned my sup consumption had gone up..whey, weight gainers, creatine ...all the basics like yourself. old man has noticed how many people our age have turned to steroids as a quick fix solution with damaging resulsts. Naturaly he was concerned.

We just sat down after dinner one night and i reassured him that i simply appreciate training for what it is. I just enjoy it. Of course i want to see some results..itll be a little pointless otherwise... but the point is that i proved to him that i am being sensible about the hobby i love. I showed him how i recorded my diet, my cal intake, my training sessions and how i researched any sups i bought etc..."these arnt the actions of a desperate teenager who takes steroids in a desperate attempt to get big quick".

In other words, i showed how i was doing it all for the right reasons and that i took a fairly mature approuch to bbing.

Try sitting down and just proving how serious you are about your hobby. Convince them that you are careful and wont harm yourself, that you know what your doing.

My mother still gives me that when I put on some weight. I just tell her I'm trying to get my my body big enough to contain my ego. She understands now.
