Company working on my car Messing me about! - UK-Muscle Body Building Community

Really fed up as I had my car painted (wing/door/bumper) about 1 year ago and the paint started to come off! So I went back to get it done on warranty... and I asked to have a few other small bits done whilst it was in at my extra cost.

They told me 1 week! Its now been almost 6 weeks!!! and every time they promise me when it will be ready... it never is!! Once again today I was told it will be ready this morning! Then I got a call later today to say it will be ready this afternoon.. and then I just got a call to say he's got another car to do and mine will be Monday!!

So I went down there as I was so ****ed off.. and the car is nowhere near finished! Its only just had a few bits done...and I'm really worried that he's cut part of the car I didnt want cutting...and he doesnt know what the feck he's doing! Its part of a well know company so I think I have that on my side.

He 'promised' again, it will be completed on Monday now! and it looks like he's got loads to do yet.. so he just tells lies and has no morals.

I just needed to get this off my chest as I'm so ****ed off he lies to me so many times.. I hate being lied to. When I confronted him he told me not to start causing problems and walked off!

lol I had a car in a bodyshop like this, not in preston by any chance is it mate? I take it they are repairing it for free though?!

no mate... its Essex. They are doing the warranty work I think for free... and charges me to do the bits I wanted extra.. but he made me go down there and pay him cash after 2 weeks as he said he needed it to finish it! I wish I hadnt but I have a receipt.

I will have to do something like that soon! I have been too nice... waited patiently for 6 weeks, now its just a personal insult.

I sympathise - garages are notorius rip-off merchants.

6 weeks is ridiculos i work in a bodyshop an the reason the paint would of flaked of is usual becuase of the lacquer bein applied to long after painting the basecoat(colour) its a simple case of using a da sander to remove the paint reprimin the door wing etc then repaintin the should had the car for a week or 2 max. id take the car an get it done properly an have the pay for it for threatin to go to tradin standards etc.

Thanks Tom, Yes.. I agree with you 100% about how long it should take. I will give him one last chance and then thats it, I will file a compliant. I couldnt take the car as it was in bits today when I arrived and he wasnt expecting me! and none of the paint that had been done was even lacquered after this long :( He promised me it back Monday! But I think thats complete bull as he's done sod all so far.. I hate all his fibs.. its taking the **** out of my generous nature letting this slide for so long.
